I thought I'd share something interesting.

We went for our biometrics back in August of 2014 and received a Potential Waiver letter in November 2014. Haven't heard a word since so, we contacted USCIS two weeks ago and was told that our case was at our local USCIS office.

So, I waited about another week and called USCIS to see if they can request an update on our case so that we didn't have to make an InfoPass appointment and take time off of work to find out the status.

So, I get this call from the local USCIS office that tells me that our case is still at the Nebraska Service Center. That left me totally confused since the USCIS main number told me it was here locally. Unfortunately, my husband and I were both at work when the Officer called otherwise I would have questioned it. Their message basically stated that they were going to request our case from the Nebraska Service Center and that it would take 30-60 days for them to make a decision.

Also, I did find out that you can renew the combo card 120 days prior to it expiring. The main USCIS office suggested that I do so since they are behind.

So, then I find out that the USCIS main number cannot tell where the case is at. Whether it's at a Service Center or your local USCIS office. At least that's what I was told when I contacted them again to ask why I was told it was at my local USCIS Office.

Hopefully, me calling sparked our case to get moving again.

Your first mistake, as a NPIW case, was to call the USCIS mis-information line. They will only supply inaccurate and mis-leading information about your case.

Tier 1 officers only have access to the same information you can see yourself online. Tier 2 have access to many more systems but still often give out incorrect information. I have been frustrated by this many times before. If you are following the main NPIW thread you'll see there are many other people in the same circumstances and that approvals are taking 10 to 12 months plus.

Hopefully the July 2014 cases will start to be sent to field offices before too long. Once that happens the speed at which it is processed really depends on which office / officer gets it. Don't forget that your case won't go to your local field office but to an office with 'spare capacity'. I'm in Ohio and it's quite possible that my case could end up getting adjudicated in San Diego, Miami, Seattle or New York City ... let's hope it gets some sunshine!

Good luck!

Hi Everyone! It's been awhile.

We filed beginning of July... I did my biometrics in August but then had to do it again earlier this year. Not sure what happened, but I guess they may have lost it? We finally received our interview date - TOMORROW!!!

It's really weird but I'm not nervous at all. We have all our paperwork in order and our relationship has gotten better in time.

Update for July fliers... so we went into our interview and our officer did not have our package from when I crossed the border the first time around. The sealed package that you give to them, they didn't have and he was still waiting for it to transfer. He also did not accept my husbands birth certificate (he is the USC) and my second attempt and my biometrics still did not take my finger prints, so I had to get police/sheriff clearance.

We completed it all and sent it off the same day and it got there 2 days after. It's been about 2 weeks and no update. Should I call them? Should I look into renewing my EAD/AP... mine is expiring in Sept/Oct. I'm going on my honeymoon early September. What should I do?

Hey folks, I'm hoping for a little guidance here. I had a conversation with my immigration lawyer and apparently I'm the only one of her clients with an interview waiver. She wants $1500 to reapply for my EAD and since I currently don't have a job to need the EAD I can't pay for what is little more than an insurance that I can get and keep a job should my green card not arrive at the forecasted June/July date. My EAD Expires in early September. So therefore, I guess I'm going to do it myself and could use a few links or a direction to go for instructions from people in this exact boat. Additionally, I'd like to get advanced parole as that was not added the first time. Unless it would likely screw up everything.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Oh wow, thank you so much. Will get to work on it right away. In my mind the whole thing is really just an insurance policy against USCIS not mailing my greencard in the projected timeframe which is about a month or two, but why take chances?

A few questions if I may -

If I applied before it should be a yes on question 11, the place would be my local USCIS office? The date is when exactly? Is that the day it was sent in, that they received it, or what? If I'm not mistaken it goes to Chicago before it's even sent to my local office.

Current Status would be i485 pending?

Under who may file is ©(9)?

You mentioned a barcode sheet that came with the original EAD card - I have no idea what I did with the envelope or even if I still have it. I do have a sheet of paper that looks like an official certificate on that paper with liberty's torch in the background that is a 1-797 Notice of Action that says Application for Employment Authorization and Approved and at the bottom there is a barcode, is that it?

Thanks so much in advance for all your help.

I just posted a similar question in the Potential Interview Waiver forum since we received the waiver letter, but thought I'd post here too since we filed in July of last year and I'm getting ready to renew my husband's EAD/AP combo card. I'm curious to as to what to put for current status? AOS pending?

I do know that we're supposed to still use the C 9 as we did before on the original documentation.

Hurray! just found that form. I kept it after all.

Not sure why my status would be K1. I haven't been a K1 since I got married. I'm going to put "i485 pending" since you ARE eligible to get a card as a K1, but only for as long as you are a k1. When you adjust status you are doing so as a family based petition as a spouse. There is a spot to put how you were admitted to the US, that's where I would put K1.

Other than that, thanks so much!

part 7 - I checked off more than one trip, and that wa

Yes that's all OK except for Part 2 - You should have checked 1d.

Good work!
