Today, at 4:45 AM...I got a text/email notification from USCIS:

"Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Your Case Status: Testing and Interview

On August 8, 2014, we mailed you an appointment notice for an interview for September 10, 2014. Please follow the instructions on the notice. HI to you all!

I am a late July filer. We send the AOS, EAD and AP on July 25th and the got 3 NOA dated on July 29th. I am a little bit confused as to what concerns the biometrics. I thought it was only for the AOS, but I have been told that I might also have them for the EAD. Does that mean there are 2 different biometrics interviews or is it one and the same?

Thank you and good luck to everyone!

You will only have one biometrics appointment. This will cover EAD & AOS. You'll see both mentioned on the biometrics appointment letter when it comes.

Haven't received it also..even the no1 for the i-485 itself, only the one for work and travel sigh...anyone experienced this? I wonder why those two were processed on NBC while the i-485 was in Nebraska accdg to the online case tracker. How about you?where did they process yours? For those two (work & travel) i just saw at the back of the envelope that it came from NBC while the i-485 is on Nebraska

So we just received our NOA1 for I-485 & I-765 and a rejection notice for I-131. The reason for rejection was the check amount was wrong or not provided. We filed all three together and sent the check for 1070.00. It is my understanding the AP & EAD was free when filed with the AOS. I guess I will call Monday and see what happened.

Hi everyone, nice to meet you all!

I'm joining in as a July AOS filer. Our filing date is 7/23 and my biometrics appointment is coming up on 8/22. I am trying to decide whether an early walk-in would speed up my EAD, does anybody have any experiences to share?

Thanks! :)

Welcome to the July 2014 filers thread!

This is my understanding of the process. Once you have your fingerprints taken at the USCIS local office they transmit them to the FBI for a security check. The research I've done suggests that this check is an efficient process and the results, in most cases, are available a few days / weeks later.

USCIS (supposedly) process cases in the order they receive them. It would appear that it's taking USCIS approximately 60 to 90 days from the filing date to process EAD / AP applications at the moment. That would suggest that an early walk-in is almost pointless. Having said that, I walked-in early and was successful, although I've heard nothing since. Good luck with whatever you choose to do!

It really depends for the early walk in. I assume if you just walk-in early but then don't expedite the further process, that there would be no time benefit. I had an expedite case and the local congressman helped me to file my case faster. I shipped my package on July 15th, walked-in early, and last Friday my EAD and AP were approved and in production. Would I have not walked in early, than I would not have been fingerprinted until now. So it definitely can speed up the process.

I agree. I received my biometric appointment letter on July 29th scheduled for August 14th. I did a walk in immediately the day after which is the 30th. I received notification that I was scheduled for an interview (September 10) prior to my original August 14th biometric appointment. So yes, in my case, it definitely sped up the process.
