Hi I went to SSA office .and I'm under k1 visa.. They didn't let me get a SSN because they want me to show them the working Authorization card ..can someone help me with this ..I cant understand ..

They were wrong. Please go back to SSA office again. Printed this link: https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0110211530 and show it to them. Tell them that K-1 holders entitled to get SSN without an EAD as verification. Not all SSA employees understand this rules.

My fiancee and I went to get her a SSN and we received her card about a week ago or so. As mention before this post, go back to SSA and if the representative still insist you can't get one, ask for a supervisor.

VSC Received: 2/26/17

Has it passed more than 76 days since you entered the country? With a K1 visa, SSA can only issue a ssn in the first 76 days of your entrance in the US, otherwise you'll need the EAD or the GC.

Good luck! :)

so when was your POE date?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Like Darnell asked, what date you POE was? SSA office employees are not accepted application if it less than 2 weeks of I-94 is going to expire.

April 26. It will Expire July 24 so I still Have 10 days..

I am sorry but they won't accepted the application if your I-94 is going expired less than 2 weeks.

No I mean its 24 days before my I94 expires ..

Insist talk to a supervisor there. They can't deny you because you are a K-1 visa holder.

My I 94 is not an Issue..she Showed me a book .that k1 visa should apply for Ead and form 1-668

She then misunderstood the regulation. Which book she showed to you? I believe you can access the information online as well.

SSA employees are some of the most incompetent you will find working for a government agency.

Get information together and bring it to them and show them how to do their jobs.

I like your idea, lol. I was expecting they would give me hard time when applied back then. But it did not happen though.
