Hi guys,

I am wondering if anyone can clarify this....on Monday I got an email saying my employment authorization was approved on March 3 and they would send me out a card as soon as it was ready. Today I got an email saying that an "approval notice" was mailed on March 7, but there was no reference to the card.

Is that because the notice is the same as the card? Am I allowed to apply for jobs in the meantime without the card since I have an email indicating approval?

Thanks for any advice you might have. :)

I got the same emails about my EAD.

First one telling me it was approved.

Second one telling me they were sending me a approval notice. When you get this letter your card will(or should)be with that letter.

Congrats on your approval.

I would say you are fine to look for a job.

Good luck :D

Holy Cow! Speak of the devil. I just went to check the mail and THERE IT WAS! I have my card on the same day as the email! How did it get here in one day? The post office must put priority on anything from Lee's Summit, MO!!!

I discovered to my horror that this card has the photo they took at biometrics! I thought that photo was for their records, I had no idea it would be used on official ID, it is HORRIBLE! I had I known, I would have had them re-take it! LOL! Well it's a good thing it expires next year. How embarassing!

Anyway, I am now all official. I have the AP and this, and now all I need to do is wait for them to ask me for the AOS interview. No word on that yet, although it was touched at the end of Feb.

UGH, I just thought of something...I bet they'll use that same photo for the greencard! NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

designermedusa,

No, the Approval Notice and the EA card (aka the EAD) are not the same thing. Although the card is the acceptable document indicating that a person is EA for I-9 purposes and the Approval Notice is not an acceptable document for I-9.

Yodrak

To answer your question, yes the EAD card is the approval.

The notice is of course not the same as the card for work authorization purposes, but when USCIS says "we mailed you an approval notice" this actually means that the card is attached to the notice. For some reason they can't just say "We mailed you the card!"

I know what ya mean about the picture.

We went to the wrong place first and it was pouring down rain. So we walked about 10 mins in the rain. Then when we went to the right place it was still raining and my hair got wet some more. So you can imagine what my hair looked like in my picture. All I can say its scary looking. Before we left home I had it lookin so nice for my picture. Dam rain. Oh well cant do anything about it. I found every picture I took thru out this process, none of them were nice.

Glad you recieved your card thou. Congrats :D

I had an okay picture for EAD, but I don't even remember the pictures I submitted with the paperwork. They are from the passport photo place (Polaroid) which always come out horrible. Well, it does not really matter in the end.
