Hi,

For those of you that have had interviews at the new location in Santo Domingo, can you submit reviews about your experience? Those of us going to interviews soon would like to know what it's like :) Thanks in advance!

I was thinking the same thing. There are number of interview for VJ members in July, hopefully they can give use some good information about the Embassy, hotels, and travel.

I can use this information to update the NOA2 Page.

K1 Visa Process -> 12/09-06/10 Married -> 09/10/10 AOS Process -> 09/10-12/10 Removal of Conditions-> 09/12-07/13

U.S. Naturalization -> 7/8/20

As soon as I go 7/14 I will update. As far as I know there is AC and there is only one hotel nearby, micro suites and condo and it's 95 a night.

Thank you, that would be great! :) That's about all I know about the new place too.

I have my interview next monday 7/7/2014. call me whatever you want, but i didn't like the way that micro hotel condo & suits hotel looks so we are staying at the colonial zone (yes a little bit too far from the new embassy ) i found a good deal at https://www.hotel-palacio.com 229 USD for 3 nights (special price) so we booked it. i'll deff let you all know about my experience at the new embassy :)

Well, we will be going to Santo Domingo from Santiago the day of our interview, so we would have no choice but to pay someone to safeguard at least one of our cellphones so that we can call a taxi afterwards to take us to the buses back to Santiago. We do not plan on getting a hotel room, so does anyone have any other suggestions as far as being able to get to the buses w/o having a cell phone on us? Do you think taxis will be whizzing by that we can flag down to take us somewhere if we leave the cellphone home?

There will be plenty of taxis around. we ended up paying for those. Do I think they over charge? yes I do, so come prepared. I dont know, I wouldn't trust my cell phone to anyone holding a sign saying that they will keep it safe.

Congratulations!!! And thank you! I know to wear comfortable shoes and be ready to wait standing up for hours :( I hope they get the rest of the issues figured out soon. We have so much evidence, and I think we won't even need it. Seems they don't ask for much most of the time. But we will bring it just in case. Keep us posted when you get your visa, so we have an idea how long it takes after approval. What hotel did you stay at?

On another note, did you like Boca Marina? I've always wanted to go, hoping to go when I am in SD for the interview :)

there is actually a company in santiago that picks you up at 3-4 am, takes you to the embassy , waits , and takes u back for only 20 dollars i think, i know it bc my mom used their service once before, i wish i had the number with me tho :(

Thank you, I wish you the same! I live in Santo Domingo but my fiance and I stayed at Crowne Plaza, in the malecon. We found a good price in expedia.com (cheaper than calling the hotels let me tell you). It has balconies, and this was important because we smoke...and the sea view was important too. After the interview we went to Samana, and when I told my boss that I was going there and looking for hotel he said whaaat?? don't spend more money, stay at my house! we saved up to 1000 dollars and we had Playa Rincon for ourselves! His house is up on a hill with the amazing view of the samana bay. Then we booked Hotel Embajador, (again cheaper in expedia.com) from friday to sunday.

We didn't bring any bags other than our documents and support evidence, I had my set of documents in one of the "acordeon" filers ? (don't know how to say it in english) and my fiance brought the I129f copy in a binder with the papers inside those plastic covers that go in the binders? everything was labeled in both, the first lady that called for the documents made compliments on how well organized we were..funny note by the way, this lady asked me for the fiance letter , I looked in the binder and got the letters we sent first, she said no, its another one, I was confused, I was showing her the fiance letter, she went to the back to get "one for me" and she brought the DS156k and I was like OOOoh, but you already have it with the DS160 and the I134, she didn't see it, that got me scared for a moment because I thought I was missing a document..

The evidence we had was more photos that I printed in a photo paper, 3 per page (3 pages in total), like 140 pages of whatsapp and all the IRS, W2, bank statements that my fiance brought. Nothing was requested but I think every case is different, my fiance said it was a waste of time and overkill, I think not, because I think we were just lucky. Other people may be asked for more photos and the backup evidence of the I134, and even another interview..bring everything you have because you never know,

Boca Marina, its owned by one of our clients, so I have been there several times. It was the first place I took my fiance when first visited me 2 years ago, and its one of the very few places that my mother likes, so it was perfect. My nephews like it too, because you can use the beach right next to the tables/pier. We spent around 350 dollars for 8 persons. Neptuno is next door, but I like the service and attention more in Boca Marina.

The distance from Ciudad Colonial to the new Embassy is about 10-12km...no traffic at 5-6am. If you have not booked a hotel yet, check expedia and compare prices. There is another kinda closer, Hotel Plaza Naco.

I will keep you posted when I get the passport!

This is all such great information, thank you!!! :) I will definitely come prepared just in case, because you never know. Is going to Samana the cool thing to do after the interview?! We plan to go there, another friend as well, and now you tell me you guys went too LOL!

LOL!

Too bad our interviews were apart and we didn't meet before because in a way its better to go with a group lol I went there because I have never been to Samana before. And we could have gone to Punta Cana/Bavaro and book a hotel there, but since we didn't have to pay and my boss' place is just beautiful, its a set of small bungalows type of structures, all stones and wood and "canas", everything is old, no air conditioner, the bungalow we were had only 3 walls and the shower and toilets were out in the open LOL..The weather was great!

Samana has nice beach hotels, but we were closer to Playa Rincon, and during the weekday the beach was empty. From Santo Domingo to Samana or Punta Cana is just less than 3 hours using the new highway. The town? meh. But places to go? Playa Rincon, Playa Fronton (you have to take a small boat), El Cayo, there is a public beach and a resort. The best place to eat was this small restaurant owned by a couple from Spain, named El Cabito, if you like cliff diving, this is the place, the sunsets are spectacular.
