So wait...do I need to file a I-751?

Hello.

So my husband's green card (conditional for 2 years) expires I think in July. Do I need to file an I-751? We just thought that they would automatically send him a new green card that was for the 10 year period.

I am panicking now....are we too late?

You need to file an I-751 ASAP (before the expiration date on your temporary GC). Read this here:

Ok. So I just completed the I-751, add the $505 and submit this? Ugh....I have no idea on what to do.

The check should be for $590... Filing fee $505 plus biometrics fee $85.

Also, don't freak out. You have a little bit of time. Just double check everything in your packet twice and send it out USPS Priority Mail... And I did signature verification, but that's just me. Don't forget to add your evidence of a relationship in the packet. It's not just filling out the I-751 form and writing a check. There is a good guide on the VJ website.

It clearly states what you should put in the package, and where you should file it (Depending on which state you live in)

If it is July 28, then you have nearly a whole month. I would relax, look at the instructions, and get it right.

The form itself is easy; what is more difficult is gathering evidence of a bona fide marriage. You should submit things like joint tax returns, quarterly statements from joint bank accounts and credit cards, joint lease or mortgage, things like that.

Form I-751 costs $590.

USCIS will look at your evidence of a bona fide marriage and make sure that you guys did not enter the marriage to evade immigration laws. The better your package is from the start, the better chances you have of avoiding an RFE and getting the new GC ASAP.

The biometrics is just like his AOS biometrics. He should remember what it is: a fingerprint and photo taken at a local office.
