I wonder if that's a 'new' thing? When I was calling, they always acknowledged receipt of "a package" on such-and-such date, then they would always remind me to complete the DS-260 (which was done two days before they received the IV). I wonder if because they're not up to that date, they don't show it in their system?

Yeah as long as no one was recently told that their DS-260 was visible in the system, checked, and approved before their IV package, I'm not going to bother emailing NVCenquiry. It probably takes them 30 business days before they read those emails anyway. I'm going to assume they review the DS-260 at the same time as the IV package.

I guess I'll call back in a couple days.

I'm the USC petitioner. My wife is British (now a USC!!!), generally awesome, and amazingly patient.

It boggles the mind what could possibly be going on in that office. I believe Saylin mentioned earlier this month that she's never seen a check list for the DS-260. I'm sure if someone selected "yes" they plan to engage in human trafficking while in the US, it would set off some sort of alert, but I don't see that person coming in here to report that

So, do I understand correctly that I would not need a joint sponsor if I can use assets? What would I need to supply as proof of the value of equity in my house? Would a written valuation and copies of what is outstanding on our home loan be good enough? Also, if I wanted to use money in our bank accounts, is a printout of our balance from our banking website sufficient?

Yes if you can meet the asset requirement then you do not need a joint sponsor. You can use your own assets combined with the assets of the person you are sponsoring, but the total value must equal at least FIVE TIMES the poverty guideline for your household size (if you are using income iit is only 125%). See the I-864 instructions for more info, here is a snippet:

"You may include the net value of your home as an asset. The net value of the home is the appraised value of the home, minus the sum of any and all loans secured by a mortgage, trust deed, or other lien on the home. If you wish to include the net value of your home, this, you must include documentation demonstrating that you own it, a recent appraisal by a licensed appraiser, and evidence of the amount of any and all loans secured by a mortgage, trust deed, or other lien on the home. You may not include the net value of an automobile unless you show that you have more than one automobile, and at least one automobile is not included as an asset.

To use your own assets, you must complete Part 7, Item Number 1. - 4. and submit corresponding evidence with this

form. Supporting evidence must be attached to establish location, ownership, date of acquisition, and value of any real estate holding."

Yup, in the 4ish years that the DS-260 has been available, I've not once seen a checklist for it. The DS-230? Yes, plenty. But since the form was made electronic, nope.

Hurray!!!!!!! Congratulations etrangais am so happy for you. Final hurdle crossed.

Technically, there's still POE. Having a visa still doesn't guarantee entrance into the US

Yea I know Saylin, but you know the joy of getting thru USCIS, NVC and Consulate is enough to set one's mind at rest.

Oh, trust me, I know how big the relief is after an approved interview. But, as I said, there's technically still one last hurdle at POE.

I know this may be small consolation for being apart for so long, but getting an IR-1 visa instead of a CR-1 will save you $600 from doing ROC, not to mention the headache of gathering a bunch of documents again.

Do they automatically change it to an IR-1 then?

They should yes. If your interview is after your 2 year anniversary, I'd mention it at the interview. If for whatever reason, your visa still comes as a CR-1, then mention it at POE. Have your marriage certificate on hand to prove it. And even after all that, if your green card still comes as a conditional 2 year, then you'll need to file an I-90 (no charge) based on USCIS error.

Paid my AOS fee... Yay one step closer! Now I can start putting the final touches on this I-864 draft I've had sitting here.

The only person I am sponsoring is my husband. Should I put n/a on all the other lines for family members, or leave them blank? I'm thinking n/a may be the safer choice. What did everyone else do?
