Sadly Nvc is taking almost this much time with the only difference that IV package and ds260 both take 30 days together since they both are part of the same package. But yeah 30 days to IV invoice and 30 days to review AOS is quite true.

Thank you samreen!! Would you happen to know if its taking 30 days to review the ds-261 as well?? Edited by Rlelle09

By the time we get through this, we'll probably be married 2 years and will be needing a IR-1 rather than a CR-1.

It's terrible that it took them so long to scan it in.

I'm actually in the same boat as you. At the speed they are processing things I'm unlikely to have an interview before September and as of September 1 we'll have been married for 2 years.

I'd be upset with NVC for all the mistakes they are making but I suspect they are horribly overworked at the moment and that is leading to mistakes. At the same time they should have seen this coming and prepared a little better.

Thank you samreen!! Would you happen to know if its taking 30 days to review the ds-261 as well??

Yes. Infact since last week they are taking '30 business days' which adds upto actually 40 plus days. And after that IV invoice is available and after that another 30 days to review IV package ds260. So without checklist the average time which used to be around 35-40 days should be close to 75-80 days from now on from case number to case complete. Sad but true.

Regular mail sounds EXACTLY like EP! I have seen some get access to their ds-261 yesterday and already being invoiced for their AOS bill. Do they not review first then invoice you? I always thought the ds-261 and AOS were somewhat of a package, but 30 business days just to see who to send emails to is ridiculous.

I just got checklisted today for my AOS package (scanned May 29)... and a real one, not a false one

Please let me know if anyone has experience with this request:

Background: I live in Chile with my husband and have a job here that will end before we move back to the US. I sent the forms, my 2013 taxes and a cover letter emphasizing that my income will not continue once we move. My dad is the co-sponsor and he is covering all of the financial support requirements.

The checklist says:

You must submit the following financial evidence:

[x] Proof of current employment (examples: a recently dated job letter, pay stub, or a copy of your business license)

What should the letter form my employer even say? That my contract will end on X date? Why do they even care if that income is not going to continue when we move?

This actually happened to a friend of mine in the same situation two years ago and I really tried to avoid it by making lots of notes in the packet. I don´t know how this could be avoided for someone else.

Thank you so much! I really hope someone can give me some advice! I plan on calling NVC tonight, of course, but I don´t know how helpful they´ll be.

You needed to put your current income as ZERO because it will not be continuing. I wouldn't even put where you currently work because it's also not continuing.

Can someone answer this for me please?

Yes that is how it is. Don't forget mailing time if you do not do EP.

Nope - from Denver, CO!

Nothing surprises me any more with this ridiculous, hellish journey. NVC couldn't be any less helpful if they tried. They never put us through to a supervisor. So today we just got told - you have to wait 30 business days (from the 12th June) and they hung up on us. That was after repeat calling for 2 hours and getting a busy signal.

By the time we get through this, we'll probably be married 2 years and will be needing a IR-1 rather than a CR-1.

Not really a bad thing, if you think about the cost and annoyance of ROC. My husband doesn't take ROC seriously so either my ROC will take forever, OR, I'll be back in Canada. :girlwerewolf2xn::ranting:

We just called NVC and we're told they have sent out a checklist. :(

She said we have to send in the originals for the birth and marriage certificates. I thought you could do certified copies, which is what I did, as stated on the NVC website. Maybe certified copies are different in Australia vs USA? Has anyone sent originals in and gotten them back at the interview? I'm nervous about sending in original copies.

Another worry is she said I need to send proof of domicile, which I did (about 1/2" thick of paper!!). She's going to check to make sure they didn't miss it. I'm planning to call in the morning to see if they found it. We spent all this money to expedite it to them and then they lose things, frustrating.

Does this mean we have another 30 business days to wait for case complete?

I think here in Australia we call "certified copies" what they call "notarised copies" in America. In Australia what I would call certified copy is where you make a photocopy of an original and take it to get witnessed (police, pharmacist, etc). that it is a true and correct copy. For NVC, I think they want you to obtain another official copy from the place that issued the original document such as Births/Deaths/Marriages, so basically another copy of the original with the proper seals, watermarks etc.

You do get the originals back at interview, so don't fret. Make a few extra copies before you send them off and pay extra for tracking (I know it's expensive from Australia, but peace of mind is worth it)

Unfortunately you will need to wait another 30 business days for them to review your checklist items :(

In 5 days the length of this thread doubled

My husband landed in Boston last Wednesday evening, zipped through the airport thanks to preclearance at Dublin, and we had 5 days to settle in and enjoy our time together. Today I'm back at the office and it's time to figure out what everyday life is going to look like. VJ at work is a given ^_^ I hope there's been a lot of good news around here lately!

So glad to hear your hubby made it without hassle! How excited you must both be to finally be together after all of this :dancing:

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question! I did put my income as zero since foreign earned income is not counted on the 1040, as well as a post-it next to that item reminding them that my income will not continue. I was considering saying I'm unemployed on the AOS form, but I didn't want to get caught lying. I'm on hold with NVC now, so I'll see what they have to say. Thanks again!
