I havent gotten my case# yet but Im working on getting all docs together. Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldnt find it anywhere. Will We get checklisf if we do not include Police checks?

My husband is from egypt and has police certificate for that already. But he lived in Malaysia for 2 yrs and in Lebanon for more than 6mos. The problem we ran into is that the malaysia embassy and lebanon embasy located in Cairo told him they cannot give this to him and they didnt even want to give him a letter stating they cannot provide him with a police certificate. The lawyer told us to at least get a letter from each embassy so we could include in NVC package. The other confusing part is that an employee at the Cairo Embassy told him he doesnt need to do a bchk at this time and he only needs to have a current bchk from Egypt?! Has anyone been through this or any advise on what we can/should do is greatly appreciated.

Yea i had N/A for AOS, Scan date dont know, mailed all documents in, the last one to be reviewed was Singapore certificate of clearance which took for ever to get.

Police certificate from a foreign country to the applicant is only required if he/she resided there for more than 12 months. So your husband doesn't need one from Lebanon which is very fortunate. As for Malaysia, according to http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html the embassy should honor your request and issue you one. Maybe be you should place your request in writing (not phone or email). There is a link to the Malaysian Foreign Office in the above website. There are others on this forum from the Far East who lived in Malaysia and would respond to you shortly I'm sure.

Glad you're starting preparations early. Download the DS-260 sampler and study it as well. Good luck!

we received the NOA2 on may 31, we have yet to receive our case # wen my husband call the NVC it's constantly busy is there another number apart from the 603-334-0700 number?

Hang in there! It tests your patience, but it's normal right now. I received my NOA on May 20th and just today was finally able to access the CEAC site. However, do keep trying to call to get your case and invoice number, and then try to log in a couple times a day. It should be soon for you. Good luck!

Hi Everyone!

I am currently waiting for the IV fee to be available to pay. I submitted our DS261 May 27th. I am trying to guess when my husbands interview will be. I was hoping for an end of August interview and now I am not sure. Anyone have any estimates on when my husbands interview will be?

I ask because I was hoping to be there with my husband during his interview, so we can fly back together. However, I start school again the end of September and I must be back in the states for school. So if the interview is not before I go back to school I would like to travel to Morocco so me and my husband can spend our anniversary together.

Just got off the phone with the NVC found out case complete, now we wait for the email saying its complete and the interview date, any info on hong hong and how soon we can expect ? Wife's visa for Hong Kong expires at the end of aug and we are stressing a little over that.

You're welcome.

I was talking about the DS-260, not the DS-261. DS-260 sampler is a 70+ page form that you really need to study in detail.

Glad you have a lawyer to bypass the DS-261. That should save you 30-45 days, believe it or not. Just double, triple, and quadruple check everything your lawyer sends to NVC, before it's sent. Every mistake or omission will cost you another 30-45 days, and that includes being one cent off in your AOS figures.
