I was going thru the ds 230 example because 260 doesn't open on my phone :P so a few qs asking beforehand.

1) I changed my name after getting married so the old name would come under other names used?

2) if I don't want the card mailed to my address I tick no in that and then collect it manually?

3) they are asking for educational institutions so I Pakistan we have school uptil 10th grade then college till 12th and then university. So what will be the difference in course of study and diploma?

P.s. Last qs might sound real stupid but I was confused :P thanks ;)

1) yes, any previous name changes (from marriage for example) and your maiden name (name at birth) would go under "other names used."

2) 90% of the time the SSN doesn't come in the mail anyhow, but at the least the information is supposed to be sent there. Doesn't matter. Check yes, go get it yourself.

3) Diploma is the type of certificate you receive at the end of the schooling. Either a diploma, a certificate, a degree, etc... Course of study is what you studied at the place of schooling.

For example: I went to college for 2 years: I have a "diploma" in Equine Science, majoring in Western Horsemanship. Equine Science is the course of study.

The solution should be:

- Hire extra people and choose the best qualified ones for this highly sensitive job.

- Increase their salaries and set up bonus for employees that completes applicant cases in a timed frame goal.

- NVC should work 24 hours divided in 3 shifts.

- Add Sat and Sundays. (bonus)

Yes: "I have a dream... "

Quite the dream. LAWL!!

The US government does not run themselves like a "for profit" business however. That's what you're asking for.

US people don't like taxes. People don't want to pay more for their petitions, applications, fees. More for the money. It's quite typically American (I am convinced of such by the size of the food that arrives at a restaurant! LOL) So that means = less people doing more work. USCIS is completely funded by petitions and fees, which is why they promote and are quick with the I-129F. More money for them! That's also why they try to get the K3's passed through, but the NVC doesn't like that obviously. Creates more work for them and I don't believe the DOS is self-funded.

Also if you'd looked up recently how much extra government employees are paid on weekends, before 6am and after 6pm, you'd understand WHY they don't work weekends. I've posted it in other threads. NVC isn't about to work weekends, and their employees may or may not work after 6pm, I don't know. The call centers will, but they're a contracted business and not government employees.

While this sucks for everyone going through immigration right now, really the most you can do is bite down hard and bear it. NVC is far more transparent and at least you get to do something like pay fees, send documents etc... You're not sitting on your thumb and rotating; waiting for something to move behind an opaque wall.

Just because your record and case are clean is no guarantee against going into AP. I've been through it twice even though I lived in the US with a clean record for 7 years, been holding one form of non-IV visa or another continuously since 1989, and even joined the US Armed Forces briefly in 1991.

Since your established record is in Pakistan (and I hope it's a clean one) and you have next to none in Afghanistan, then chances are you'll get a shorter AP in Pakistan if you're unfortunate enough to receive one.

Best of luck to you.

ohh i m scared, how they will put me on AP for no reason??

Weekend alone + constant frustration = video

So, ever since I created the form to be added/updated on my spreadsheet (link to that in my signature below), I have been getting errors from people left and right and it's starting to get real annoying :P I thought it was an easy enough form to fill out, but apparently people don't read what I think are clear instructions (and this may sound a little harsh, but I can see why some of these people are getting checklists at NVC). Anyways, so I had some spare time, so I made a video on how to properly fill out my form.

I suggest everyone who will be requesting an add/update in the future to view it

. Make sure to put the video quality as the highest and expand the window, so everything can be clearly seen.

If anything, you can hear the voice behind these posts :jest:

But Saylin, if people just ask questions instead of reading, it takes the responsibility off of them when they get a check list! HAHAHAHA

I love the idea of password protecting the thread or a quiz! And you're contagious, I'm setting up a spreadsheet for my trip to Prague next month :-D

I try to avoid using USPS or FedEx which is partnering with it now. Stick to UPS, or better yet, DHL for critical deliveries. More money yes, but more peace of mind.

DHL hasn't been delivering packages or other times between two US locations since November 2008. Only US to abroad and abroad to US.

I understand what you are saying but to me this is called discrimination. Any one from any country can have something to do with terrorism if they wanted to so if AP was for everyone I would call it FAIR but when it only applies to certain countries,I dont call that being fair its totally discrimination.

I don't know how AP's are defined or processed, it was only my guess. I mean if you are from the Tam'mim province of Iraq will you be investigated more than if you are from Baghdad or Kurdistan? Or is it all of Iraq in general? I don't have any clue. I was not trying to say that all people from these countries are terrorists. There are good and bad in every country of the world, but it is fact that some countries have a higher ratio of threat to the US than others, hence IMO, that is not discrimination. It is being thorough.

I do understand your point and can relate to some degree. My wife is from Colombia. When I travel to see her in Bogota, people in the US ask me questions, or make statements like "Are you safe? Are their bombings? Be careful of the cartels. Lots of crime in Colombia, I would get a bodyguard" etc. etc. etc. or I hear drug related jokes. It is in the same ball park, so to speak. She has never used drugs or had anything to do with them. In addition, I have never seen cartels, bombings, or any of the stereotypes affiliated with Colombia.

Sometimes the actions of a few impact many others, and that is an unfortunate truth. It does increase DoS resources that could be used to process more Visas. Like everyone else here, I am in the same line. I hope that we all are processed in a secure and expedient manner, no matter where the SO is from. Best of luck that no one gets AP, or if they do? That it is a quick process.

Best of luck to you and everyone else...

DHL hasn't been delivering packages or other times between two US locations since November 2008. Only US to abroad and abroad to US.

Didn't know DHL exited the inter-US market. Also didn't realize you're sending your packet from within the US. In this case, FedEx is great as long as you don't use the cheaper rates that dump deliveries on USPS network. It really irks me when I have to drive downtown to the post-office to get my FedExed packages instead of getting them at my doorstep.

thank u dear for ur good opinion.. my PD is march 15 2013.. i don,t know about ur pd.. bt i think u r behind me :)

Priority dates don't matter with IR-1/CR-1 visa applicants. This date is only important for visa categories in which there's a limited number of visas per year. For IR-1/CR-1 visas, there's an unlimited amount, thus the priority date is meaningless.

Not to mention, at NVC, the priority date and NOA2 date mean nothing since the speed of the NVC process is dependent upon YOU; how fast you pay bills, how fast you submit forms online, how fast you send in the packages, how fast you respond to checklists (if any).

But Saylin, if people just ask questions instead of reading, it takes the responsibility off of them when they get a check list! HAHAHAHA

I love the idea of password protecting the thread or a quiz! And you're contagious, I'm setting up a spreadsheet for my trip to Prague next month :-D

Haha, that's true. God forbid if people took responsibility for checklists  (I do understand there's the ridiculous checklists NVC issues at times saying there's missing/wrong documents even though they were sent/were correct. I don't mean those :P )

And yay spreadsheets! I think I have 2 each for both my upcoming trips, plus regular documents for each one (packing list and plan for each day). I love Google Drive
