Soloenta,

viewing you posts here for some time and looking at your timeline . I hope and pray with all my heart you will not go through AP .

It really pisses me off that they have a case from a certain country and for whatever reason they have to do a bigger background check.

My goodness why dont they(USCIS) do that from the beginning of the process and from your timeline they had enough time to do a research even for your great great great great grandmother.

That really sucks. They have the technology and the power just frickin do it.

God bless you Tino I so appreciate your kind words. I think they do it on purpose they are supposed to do this during our time at USCIS at least that is what I have read. I pray every night and during the day that all goes well. I know they have to check backgrounds so they don't allow terrorists into the country, but what they do is abusive. :( Thank you again for understanding and I pray your journey is an easy and smooth one. :)(F)(L)(F)

I hope no one gets AP and I feel for all of those that are separated, no matter how long, but there is a reason for it. National Security takes precedence and much has changed since 9/11. That is not an answer that anyone wants to hear, but it is the truth. Countries with known terrorist ties, or organizations within, will get greater scrutiny. I would guess that Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Syria and some others for example. I know we all want to be with our spouses, but as an American citizen I understand and appreciate this...even if it is an inconvenience.

Last year DoS provided 473,115 visas. That is about 39,425 a month, or about 1,892 a day (260 working days, minus 10 for holidays). We are only seeing a smidgen of that on this board.

Have you ever had somebody come to you at your job and say? "Hey, I need you to do this! it should only take you a few hours". You look at the task and ask them "are you insane? a few hours?" It's not as easy as some make it out to be. Sure it could improve, but I am sure it is not as easy as some believe. Nothing is perfect here in the US, and that includes CIS and DoS, but there are a lot of positive things that do work...albeit sometimes slowly. We all need to vent and rant, I do it myself, but try to see the positive things that are working as well as try to breathe a little.

Just my two cents...

Thank you and I understand the reason for the delays and I have waited patiently. Checking backgrounds is the job of USCIS and I think more than a year checking what takes minutes to check Interpol and other organizations wouldn't have to take a year then God knows how long in AP. Wouldn't they know this by then? With today's technology it really takes this long? Every single thing that happened before and after 9/11 they knew about. I'm not swallowing that one, by the time the person gets to the interview they should know if they are a danger to the USA or why let anyone go further, for the money?

I'm all for security I'm happy they check everyone out and wouldn't care if they checked me out I would love it even more. But this is just NOT right. Thank you for your opinion. :)(F)(L)(F)

Weekend alone + constant frustration = video

So, ever since I created the form to be added/updated on my spreadsheet (link to that in my signature below), I have been getting errors from people left and right and it's starting to get real annoying :P I thought it was an easy enough form to fill out, but apparently people don't read what I think are clear instructions (and this may sound a little harsh, but I can see why some of these people are getting checklists at NVC). Anyways, so I had some spare time, so I made a video on how to properly fill out my form.

I suggest everyone who will be requesting an add/update in the future to view it here. Make sure to put the video quality as the highest and expand the window, so everything can be clearly seen.

If anything, you can hear the voice behind these posts :jest:

I don't blame you and If I had that option I would go back to Egypt, miss my husband way to much. I love the USA but he's not here. :( But also your so very close why go back after all this waiting? Not an easy decision, but please let us know what you decide to do. (F)(L)(F)

The solution should be:

- Hire extra people and choose the best qualified ones for this highly sensitive job.

- Increase their salaries and set up bonus for employees that completes applicant cases in a timed frame goal.

- NVC should work 24 hours divided in 3 shifts.

- Add Sat and Sundays. (bonus)

Yes: "I have a dream... "

Your thinking logically and there is nothing logical about this. But wouldn't it be wonderful!

I have been put twice on AP during my last two visa applications, lasting 1 and 13 months respectively. Yet I do agree with you that it is needed at times. The real issue is its open-ended nature. 1-4 weeks is a reasonable period to wait for a thorough check.6-36 months is not. Especially when a US citizen (spouse and/or kids) is forced to choose between living away from his/her loved one or leaving the US to live abroad.

If anything, you can hear the voice behind these posts :jest:

I suspect some people sit on their hands for weeks waiting for the next form to open and then they rush it with little or no deliberation. I've seen several who didn't even lookup DS-260 form until it was ready form them, for example. It took me several weeks to collect all the information I needed to complete my DS-260 and include in my IV packet.

If only you could force newcomers to read the wiki info before they could post their first message on the thread.

Same thing happened with mine last month, they attempted delivery on a Saturday. I was worried, but they just tried again and it was delivered on Monday (next business day).

They need to update the tracker every workday to show activity. So what do they do on Saturdays when the package destination is closed? They just click on the Unsuccessful Attempted Delivery button without the package even leaving the post-office building.

The solution should be:

- Hire extra people and choose the best qualified ones for this highly sensitive job.

- Increase their salaries and set up bonus for employees that completes applicant cases in a timed frame goal.

Yes: "I have a dream... "

NVC is run by a contractor. How about this novel idea for a free-market system: DOS should sign-up with a second contractor in a different location. Double the workflow and let them compete against each other.

Oh yes, you're definitely right. I see people here all the time waiting until the very last second to start filling out forms and gathering documents, thus rushing through everything and making mistakes. Glad you were one of the ones that prepared ahead of time

Oh, and if it were up to me, I'd password protect this thread and you wouldn't be able to post unless you read the wiki and had a completely filled out timeline and signature. I'd either hide the password in the wiki or make you take some kind of quiz based on the wiki before being able to post (or even some kind of combination of both  ). But alas, this isn't my website :P
