Hi...on the DS-261. For correspondance for NVC do I use petioner or principal applicants address? Im filling out form(petioner)

Make the petitioner the agent and use the petitioner's address.

Either way both will receive emails and can communicate with the NVC.

OMG, 27 of July? That's crazy. I cannot believe NVC has been such a lazy one like USCIS.

I hope all of us waiting for IV invoice will hear a good news soon!

Why are they lazy?

So frustrated by my lawyer....

I took a trip to Colombia to see my wife for two weeks. We spent one week in Bogota and then we went to the little town where her parents live and where we got married for a week to visit and get the missing docs. The local notary required that I bring my original docs less than 90 days old, notarized and apostilled. The flight was DC-Panama-Bogota-Baranquilla-4 hour car ride. about 6000 miles? I return to the US with the exact docs. I get the docs translated and notarized immediately and then FedEx them overnight to the lawyer.

Mon Email...The docs are enroute. NO response.

Tues Email...They were delivered, did you get them? NO response.

Tues Email...AoS and IV fees showing paid, Did you get the packets mailed? NO response.

Wed Email...Did you get the docs/packets mailed/260? NO response.

Email...Please provide status before the long weekend. Her response: "I am vacation...I will get to it when i return on Tuesday."

In addition...It was hard to call the NVC and wait on hold for 30 minutes from Colombia, so I didn't. She got an email on the 20th that the AoS/IV fees were ready. She forwarded to me on the 28th! 8 DAYS LATER!

Yes, working with a lawyer can be frustrating since some lawyers think their time is more valuable than yours.

Well, at least you didn't have to fill out the DS-261 form and wait for 30 business days to pay the IV fee since you have a lawyer.

I kind of wish I had hired a lawyer now since it's taking forever to pay the IV fee. Time is money! :bonk:

hi guys sorry for the late update on my case ..i am not really an active guy on vj.Anyways so i submitted my AOS package last week so i am guessing it's gonna take a week till its scanned into the system.Yesterday i called NVC to ask them about IV,why it hasn't been invoiced. They told me you will be invoiced on 27th july.

Is this normal or i am the only one who is getting this await time?

27th July!! That's crazy! Where did their '30 days' response go? God pleaseee don't turn Nvc into Uscis! Been there done that :( u should be expecting it in 3 4 days. Keep us updated!

You all should take a look at my signature, and the signatures of other members on the forum. While I do think July 27th is probably not accurate, it is taking much longer lately to receive the IV fee invoice. NVC received my DS-261 on May 29th and I still have not received the IV fee invoice. Over a month now waiting for something that used to take a couple days. They are very backlogged right now and everything is taking longer.

July 27th sounds right since they're now saying it takes up to 30 BUSINESS DAYS (1 MONTH and 15 DAYS or 45 DAYS). :bonk:

We got unlucky (or should I say "screwed"?). :( There is nothing we can do about it. :dead: I'm trying to enjoy the summer while I wait.

I will be sending my AoS packet either today or next Monday. I have a question about the address.

The NVC website says to send to

National Visa Center
Attn: DR
31 Rochester Ave. Suite 100
Portsmouth, NH 03801-2914

But the cover sheet is different in the "Attn:" part and says

National Visa Center
Attn, CMR AOS
31 Rochester Ave. Suite 100
Portsmouth, NH 03801-2914

Which one is better to write on the envelope? Does it even matter?

I - 130 sent 2014-04-18

Got NOA1 2014-04-22

I-130 approved 2014-05-14

NVC received 2014-05-23

DS-261/AOS bill 2014-07-01

Submit DS-261 2014-07-01

Paid AOS 2014-07-01

Sent AOS pack 2014-07-04

IV fee invoice ???

Posted

Submitted ds-260 last night, and per USPS tracking the IV docs were delivered today... now it's just time to wait... it's a relief to have all that done.

In response to some other comments here, I don't think NVC is lazy... it sounds like they are being overwhelmed by the results of poor decision -making at USCUS... but I do appreciate that at least they work steadily and are willing to give you a time frame even it it is long-- when our case was at USCIS no one had any idea when they might start working on I-130's... this is actually a lot better for many, I think.

Ok. So for those who were following my earlier comment about the weird email I received from NVC after submitting my civil documents.

"You cannot participate in email processing because you already submitted a form or document to the National Visa Center by mail. This means you must continue processing your case by mailing your forms and documents to this address:"

The response I got from the supervisor was. "Well just send them again. Clearly someone made a mistake."

I tried to push to see if they could guarantee that I would not get a similar email if I sent it again with the reply. "Well I can't guarantee that."

It is really irritating that 1) Someone's mistake has now delayed my IV document processing by 1 week and 2) That I have no way of knowing that this mistake won't delay my IV processing even more because for all I know I will get another similar email next week and have to deal with this all over again.

They accepted your DS260, therefore you got the response about the checklist for the AOS package that they're "still waiting" on. I assume you already sent it, and that's waiting for review. Call them and see if they have reviewed your IV package, and if it was accepted.

jsumner, have you called lately about your checklist being removed? I can't believe they're stringing you guys along like that.... :(

Yes, I still feel NVC is better than USCIS. However, I don't know why they chose to delay billing the IV fee.

I understand that NVC is backlogged. Okay, making us wait for a case number was fair to everyone, but waiting for the IV fee invoice only applies to filers who don't have a lawyer. :(

It's great for immigration lawyers since they may get more clients who are willing to save 30-45 days at the NVC stage. I just don't feel it was fair to people who chose not to hire a lawyer. It's like being punished for trying to save money by doing everything by yourself. :bonk:

Lesson learned for a cheapskate like myself: We all need to spend money to boost the economy and create jobs sometime, maybe? I mentioned this to Supervisor Ike when I talked to him (so I'm not just complaining here without taking any action and wasting everyone's time. LOL).

Yeah, I agree with you on the fairness issue... hopefully they will change that... maybe there could be a mechanism whereby one could choose the petitioner as a representative ahead of time, like one is automatically assumed to have chosen the attorney?

Like we haven't waited long enough? She has had all of the documentation for months (about 3 inches thick). She only needed 3 things from me. I do not get any sort of prioritization from jher. No urgency. Poor communications. She works at home. In the beginning she told me "about 6 months." Piss poor customer service, I tell ya.

Seriously? My grandmother is from Sicily and my wife is from Colombia....does she know the heat we could bring on her! Luca Brasi? :) hahahahaha, i know its a bad joke but I gotta vent!

//rant over...thanks for listening

These lawyers are scam. We pay them thousands of dollars and what we get RFEs and checklists!

The DS-261 is completely pointless anyway. I bet 99.9% of the people who don't use a lawyer just have the petitioner as the main representative / person who needs to be contacted (aside from the beneficiary) anyway. You already give them your email when you call to get the case number so what's even the point? It was obviously just created in the first place so that they can buy themselves time to process cases when things get too backed up (like right now.) If they are so backed up, why don't they just hire more people? There are enough people out there looking for jobs right now and processing a case can't honestly be that hard. Any of us who had to go through this process seems to know more than some of the operators at NVC even! It's insane.
