So I get up this morning and am getting ready for work when i receive an email from my lawyer. It seems that when he logged tried to log in this morning at the payment portal it said in a BIG RED BOX…."this case is in the process of being terminated, if you think you have received this message in error, please contact the NVC". So of course I called up NVC .. TWICE (the first time the operator HUNG UP ON ME, as i wanted to speak to her supervisor). Apparently if you log into payment portal now "too many times" (in logged in twice and my lawyer logged in this morning once) they put this message ON. It will go away once they process, send us an email, and the bills are ready to pay.

Has this happened to ANYONE ELSE???? I don't trust them.

Background --- i got the case number and IIN number yesterday, so i went to log in to see --- i tried to log into the DS261(one time) and the payment portal (twice), and then my lawyer must have done it this morning and hence appears the message saying our case is in the process of termination.

Let me play devil's advocate --- fine i logged in three times in 24 hours and thats TOO MUCH LOGGING IN>… for a country thats native language in ENGLISH ---- cannot the red box say, Sorry you cannot log in as you have exceeded more than the number OR you cannot get access as your case is under process…. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU SAY---- that your case is in the process of being TERMINATED"…WHY????? WHO designed this SYSTEM!!!! I thought USCIS was bad…..but damn, NVC is leaving them far behind.

From what I have read on this thread is that the same message appears when they are ready to bill you for AOS. You should expect AOS bill soon.

Oh, yeah, I completely agree. They need to change the wording as I'm sure it's freaked out MANY people. If they would just state why you can't access your case (billing AOS, billing IV, making the online forms available, etc), then they would receive a lot less calls.

The document review period is 30 days is from scanned date of documents.

Flights booked? Yay! So, I assume that means the interview went well. Would love to hear all the details, as we will also be interviewed in Sydney in the next couple of months.

I believe this is incorrect. They will not review documents until the IV fees are paid according to several customer service reps. Some have even said that they begin reviewing them after receipt of DS260. If what you are saying was correct, he would have had a case complete by now as it has almost been 30 days since he sent his IV package

Tks Saylin. My problem is that my case was completed but I need to bring updated I864 to the interview because stupid lawyer input line 37 of 1040 tax return in I864 instead of line 22. My joint sponsor does not want his spouse knowing he sponsor for us, so we did not submit I864A. Now we dont know which income (from w2 or 1040) we will input for I864 to bring to the interview. My sponsor has his own biz, so his wife does not need to contribute her income. We afraid Consular to ask us to submit I864A for his spouse. Can u help advise us?

The spouse only needs to fill out an I-864A and include their documents if they're going to contribute their income as well. If not, then the joint sponsor will just submit their W2s along with the tax transcripts to show their individual income.

Good on you for doing research

Yes it does…and to be honest….somewhere i knew it would be all ok because i remembered vaguely about this issue (as i had read your wikipage about a few weeks ago) ..but at that moment when i received the message i panicked.

Lunch time today--- i am taking your wiki page printing it out and reading it back and forth 16 times so it is all memorized and also sending a COPY to my lawyer too.:angry::rolleyes:

G'day everyone.

Had a quick read but can't find what I need.

Where am I going to fill out the DS-261???? I have all of the necessary numbers to do this but can't figure out where to log in to.

Go to Saylin's wiki here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process. And click on the number (6) that I higlighted in the attached picture. It will take you to ceac website where you can fill the ds-261.

oh yeah…they don't know anything….i sometimes believe all lawyers should pay us to help them know the process as well…or at least fund the visa journey website….

by the way i saw your timeline (about skipping the DS261 as you had a lawyer)---- so in your case, when you got a case number and IIN, did the DS261 was automatically done and you moved onto paying your fees OR did you still have to fill the DS261? Also, did you get to pay both fees at the same time?

Also you are doing EP, right? Hows that coming along for you? In your personal opinion is it better or worse than traditional snail mail method?

thanks

When quoting someone, please put your response OUTSIDE of the quote. I bolded your response above.

If the joint sponsor's spouse isn't contributing their income, then as I mentioned, bring the tax transcripts and his W2s. On the question about past years' tax information, he'll have to put the combined amount (as I'm assuming he filed jointly). That's the point of the W2s, to show individual income from that combined amount.

There was no DS261 for me because I had lawyer on file. I did let him go after I-130 but NVC record still had him.

I was asking NVC agent for something about forms and she told me she can't tell me because she was not a lawyer..I was thinking in my head..right as if my lawyer would known that! I always used to get 'not-sure' or uncertain answer when I would ask something.

There was no EP for me so sorry don't know about that.
