Ok, so I just talked to Arthur at NVC... despite other posters' experiences, I didn't feel he was rude to me, just sort of formal.

HE says that the information he has shows that one page is for me and one for the joint sponsor, despite my e-mail having my dad's name on both, and that I'm the one they need proof of current employment for... he said that if, as a self-employed person, I don't have a business license, then I can send a copy of a contract between myself and a client... but most of my work lately has been teaching yoga, and I don't have a formal Contract, just e-mails announcing classes, and then people commenting they can't come, but will next week, et cetera... any ideas? I do maintain a liability insurance, and could send a copy of that? Has anyone else had a similar situation?

Hey guys! Just came back from the embassy. My visa was approved! :dancing:

We started our journey a year and 18 days ago. Even though we were lucky to be together during the whole process, it still was very frustrating. So thanks for all your help and encouraging words. You're the best!

Now it's time to wait again...

Congratulations!

Hi dawning. You at least have some income. I have nothing at the moment so I just assumed that I don't require to submit my i-864 as my dad qualifies way above the poverty guidelines. I was wrong & wish I had read Saliyn's wiki before hand that the petitoner has to submit his or her i 864 regardless of income.

What ended up happening is NVC checklisted me. I told the representative I don't have any income to which she said it doesn't matter. You can put $0 everywhere and type up a letter saying you were full time in school, therefore did not work & didn't do taxes.

As you mentioned my checklist was just like yours. It had my dad's name on both pages. Will find out in a few days hopefully (today being the 25th bd) hopefully by next weekend whether its approved.

Thanks for the info-- maybe that's normal with a joint sponsor? But I did initially send in a I-864 for myself as well as my joint sponsor.

Also, the wiki says that pay stubs are optional... how many folks have had checklists for proof of employment alone?

Yeah probably its optional when you have a joint sponsor. I am not sure if people actually got checklisted for showing proof of employment.

My cousin's wife had her interview November of last year and since it was at the end of the year, the embassy asked her to show the petitioner's proof of income. Not so sure if it matters at the NVC stage.

Keep trying though, because I was able to log in one day before I got the email telling me to do so.

I am debating between I864 and I864EZ, EZ seems simpler but I have noticed there are lot of checlists have been generated for EZ form.

I think the name "EZ" is misleading. We've seen a lot more checklists on the EZ form than the I-864 form.

"For my AOS, all I sent was my employment verification letter, no pay stubs because mine are formatted really strangely. AOS was approved, no checklist, no problem. I would suggest just sending your employment verification letter so as not to confuse the *special* NVC doc reviewers.;) They can't handle much beyond 1+1=2. Or is it 6... they're never quite sure. "

Thank you for your reply. If you don't mind me asking, did you fill I864 or I864EZ and did you write N/A in the columns that were not applicable? I am debating between I864 and I864EZ, EZ seems simpler but I have noticed there are lot of checlists have been generated for EZ form.

A big chunk of the check lists on the EZ form are for not writing 'N/A' on Part 3 #9. The instructions by USCIS say to leave it blank, but NVC says no blanks.

If the check list is for something else, it's because the preparer of the form did not read carefully and rushed through it. The I-864EZ is much easier than the I-864. If you're eligible to use the EZ, go for it!

Hi All,

My apologies if this has already been addressed (I tried to read through everything!), but I have a question regarding the I-84 Part 6. Sponsor's Income and Employment. I lived abroad last year so had foreign income, but still filed taxes here in the US. I'm looking through my tax transcript and have no idea what number to enter for 2013 total income. I've read on here that this is where people are getting checklists, so don't want to mess this up. I have a value for Icome - Wages, Salaries, Tips, etc, which is the same value as Foreign Income Exclusion Amount. Is this the number I should enter on the I-864?

Thanks in advance!
