Keep in mind, it can take a couple days to a week or more to receive emails from NVC, so it may just be that you haven't received the false checklist yet ;)

I may receive a false checklist this week then. I know they've accepted my AOS package so I won't flip out when I get one!

Congrats!!!

Thanks! Since we have similar timelines, they'll review your AOS package soon! I hope you've already sent your IV package! :star:

Congrats, that is awesome! From other people's stories avoiding a checklist on the AOS package is no small feat.

According to Saylin's spreadsheet, about 50% of people get a checklist. I believe most of the checklists are on the AOS package since it has the application (especially the EZ form... Well, it's not easy after all!). :dead:

It's unlikely you'll get a checklist on the IV package. However, I've seen people getting a checklist on their marriage and birth certificates especially if they're from developing countries and the documents are not in English.

Congratulations boys!

My partner and I are going through the same process and just waiting to be billed.

Good luck with the rest!

Thanks! Good luck with you too! :star:

Hey, that's awesome! Congratulations! According to your timeline they scanned it in June 16, so if we count that as day 1, yesterday was business day 31. Not bad!

A general thought-- I think the crazy delay with IV payments is a way for them to press the pause button, so to speak, and catch up on document review, or at least work through some of the document review backlog. I think that 30 business days wasn't enough, and they've just frozen it for random people. If that's the case, I'd honesty prefer they be transparent about it, and apply it consistently. Like, "Hey everyone, we aren't unlocking any IV invoices at all until we catch up on AOS/IV packages, unless your case has been expedited. This is what's causing the delay." Or something like that. I just hate not knowing, and if they were transparent they'd receive much fewer phone calls/e-mails as well.

Actually, it took them exactly 30 business days since July 4th was a holiday. :)

I waited for the IV fee invoice for more than 40 days. :( I got screwed big time! :bonk:

Now I'll need to wait for 30 business days for them to review my IV package and am getting screwed again! :bonk:

We haven't been able to pay the IV fee yet so I guess we will wait until we can do that to send out the IV package. Today is our 30th business day since the DS-261 was received. :/

I would venture to say that a good chunk of the AOS check lists come from people rushing through the form and not completing things correctly (I'm not referring to those who got the 'N/A' check list, those are BS check lists).

I do wonder if the slow down between DS-261 and IV was an effort to reduce the amount of check lists NVC was issuing for the AOS? My line of thinking is the time between DS-261 and IV was so small maybe it created a larger amount of erroneous AOS documents? I'm using way too much logic, I think! :goofy:

I just called NVC and found out that they approved my AOS package yesterday!

Well, I didn't receive a false checklist so it looks like some people receive false checklists while others don't.

I'm now waiting for them to review my IV package and DS-260. :clock: I'll just have to wait until Sept 5th (my 30th business day). :bonk:

I hope I don't get a checklist on my IV package. I reviewed it so many times! Fingers crossed!

Brilliant! Congratulations!

I also had a sneaking suspicion on that. Then, maybe the better way for NVC may be to have us pay the IV fee first and make us wait to pay the AOS fee so we'll have more time to work on the AOS application (means fewer checklists and less work for NVC) since most of the checklists are on the AOS package (especially the "EZ" form)?

Maybe they think it takes more time to gather police certificates (IV package) than tax forms (AOS package)? :huh2:

Brilliant! Congratulations!

If you think about it, there's plenty of time to work on the AOS form between I-130 approval and case number. People I guess wait until the fee is ready to have a full on panic, I guess. :-D

Oh where is the fun in that for NVC  ….how can they let people just have a smooth, logical, step-by-step method :goofy: ….it would be all ….so easy then. none of us would actually ever get to meet here and we would actually live a comparatively more stress-free lives.

Hey Everyone, I have a bit of off topic question but I figured lot of couples here might be close to their 2nd year marriage anniversary. On VJ I have seen senior members saying that if you go for interview before your 2nd anniversary, you get CR1 visa. However if your POE is on or after 2nd anniversary, you still get 10 year GC regardless of type of Visa you hold.

Now somebody on Dec filers thread posted this llink. http://www.nairaland.com/1792591/u.s-immigration-questions-ask-u.s/5

It's a Q&A with visa officer from Lagos Consulate. I will quote his answer on this matter.

The deciding factor for the question of IR1 versus CR1 is the amount of time that the beneficiary has been married at the time the visa is issued. If the couple has been married for two years or more, it's an IR1 visa. If they have been married less than two years, it's a CR1 visa. And, yes, you'll need to apply to have the conditions removed two years after your LPR card is issued. Again, this is based on the length of time you were married when the visa was issued, rather than on the length of time you'll have been married when you use the visa.

Now this is confusing. Is he correct? It contradicts from what I have read here.

From what I've seen, it's based on when you do POE. But, if you do get issued a CR-1 visa and then cross the 2 year line between then and POE, you need to mention it to the officer (have a copy of the marriage certificate as proof). Some of these officers aren't so bright and might not notice it.

I thought so too, Saylin. But that officer says if you have CR1 status, it can not be changed to IR1 at POE, who knows he could be not up to date with laws regarding this since it happens in rare cases? I guess I will have to dig up on it. Thanks for replying though. :)
