NVC Filers - July 2014

I think it is coincidence. I honestly don't think NVC operators go "Oh gee whiz, so and so is calling 3 times a day, they really do deserve a case complete more than people who don't have the time to call" That's my personal opinion.

I am also so much less stressed since I stopped calling every day. Personally, I can't stand the butterflies waiting on hold gives me and the let down when I am spoken to like a child. I never want to feel the way I felt the week I called every day.

the people who answer the phones are just operators and have no influence over the people who process the files and actually, I think they are even in different buildings, They log every time you call and who you spoke to . I was disgustingly sweet to them and usually they were pretty responsive unless I got Joy or Arthur. I talked to nicer operators at night but there were a few really good ones during the day !.

I was tired of waiting so calling 3 times a day got me through. Things change by the minute at the NVC, The day I got my case number, I called at 7 am..... nothing... but by noon I had my case number and was able to log on the CEAC

I always expected a let down... the phone call just helped me get through the day.... I don't like to wonder .... I am the type of person who needs to know what is going on... RIGHT NOW...

I read all the posts.... I get notifications on my phone. I'm still here. etrangais moved and started a new job and his wife is with him now. Lucybelle also moved back to the US with her husband but I think she still reads the thread now and again. She sent me a nice message the other day.

I feel like I was on top of them by calling so often. Actually, I don't understand why anyone wouldn't call often.. but to each his own I guess.

They make alot of mistakes at the NVC. You have to babysit them

That is wonderful news about etrangais! You L Girls (plus LifeOnHold) and etrangais were the life of this thread! Ahhh memories LOL If anyone was able to find out what date they were in, it was you :-D

I agree, I called NVC all the time. It was nice to get a glimpse in here of the date, but I did it for my own piece of mind. I understand for some it would be too overwhelming and frustrating. NVC really don't have a handle on their own processes and they absolutely need baby sat.

hi folks,

I follow this thread pretty diligently, and I apologize if this has been gone over--it seems like something that has, and I'm not putting two and two together well. I would really appreciate any feedback :)

We received (yay) an email with subject line of [case number] AIVF for DS-1200, and in it was a pdf instructing us it's time to pay the immigrant processing fee of $230 and to go to ceac to do so. (happy to copy and paste the pdf text directly if needed)

However, when I log in to ceac, the IV fee is *not* available in the payment portal. It still says $0.00 and no checkmark available to select to pay.

Is this a common occurrence, that we'd receive the email for fee notification, but still not have the fee available in the payment portal? It's not so much that I'm antsy (though I am) but more I want to ensure something hasn't gone haywire here.

thank you! :) :)

Update:

Checked the ceac website for God knows how many times and my IV bill changed back to PAID. I guess NVC have resolved the problem on their portal. Shaujhe check yours to see if NVC have resolved the issue. This process is already a stressful and long process and I hope NVC does not give us a heartbreak and not let this issue repeat itself again.

Just finishing off with printing a copy of the DS 260 confirmation. In the CEAC website, IV status is now PAID and IV applications shows COMPLETED. Thank God.....

I agree with you. I hope this won't happen to us all here again. This whole thing is so stressful. But to everyone here, just keep the faith!

Hello there,

It usually takes a couple of days before the IV payment portal will show up in the CEAC site. In my case, it took 3 days before I was able to pay the IV bill.

For those of you that have requested an expedite... did you receive an email confirming they had received your request? I fear that I may have actually included all of the information they need to process my request (), so they won't contact me for additional information.... but then I don't really know for sure if they actually received my email. Can phone operators see that you've sent a request to expedite? I really don't feel like calling them this week when I'm pretty sure it will be useless.....

I agree that if calling helps you feel like you have some control and gives you peace of mind, then by all means dial away :goofy:

For me personally, the days pass quicker when I keep myself busy with other things. The days I called, I had knots in my stomach and I watched the clock tick by until they opened the phone lines. I ignored my children as I sat on hold for fear I would miss them picking up the call. I didn't like how it made me feel to be hurried off the line at the end of the long wait. I do think it can be beneficial to call at key points (ie 30 business days when you are waiting for invoices / possible checklists or interview dates as the sooner you know the quicker you can act) but other than that, I see no benefit in calling every day.

We received a checklist in error on June 13th, and they finally removed it!(Business day 31). Don't lose hope for those who are still waiting, it's hard but you can all make it through!! Going to celebrate this weekend! This bloody journey is almost over!!

My wife has been the strongest through this whole process, even though she's broke down a lot lately. She's always would quote this, "God never tells us no, he has three options. Yes, not right now, or I have something better in mind.". It's hard, but patience was something we really learned during this process..

All the best!

Having a strong and supporting spouse makes all the difference in this world. During the worst times, their mettle shines brighter than the bravest soldiers in the battlefield. Make sure you communicate your appreciation to your wife every now and then. We men tend to be retarded in this department.

Really glad you finally got that absurdly overdue CC. I would have felt guilty if I had beat you to it.

I feel like I was on top of them by calling so often. Actually, I don't understand why anyone wouldn't call often.. but to each his own I guess.

Babysitting baboons can be risky. bdrew got the short end of that stick. Luckily, she was tenacious enough to make things right in spite of NVC.

What time are you guys calling NVC? Today I called on and off from 11 am EST to about 11:30 pm EST. 90% of the time the line kept coming as busy and the 2-3 times I did get through the line got disconnected after about 20 mins of hold.

Is it really that hard just to call NVC and stay on hold?? Any suggestions on when to call??

What time are you guys calling NVC? Today I called on and off from 11 am EST to about 11:30 pm EST. 90% of the time the line kept coming as busy and the 2-3 times I did get through the line got disconnected after about 20 mins of hold.

Is it really that hard just to call NVC and stay on hold?? Any suggestions on when to call??

I call when they open at 7am. It's rarely busy. Wait time approx. 20-30 mins.
