So I paid AOS and sent my AOS package. I'm waiting for IV invoice. I read where people are saying that AOS and IV should be sent together. Well, I did not do that. Did I make a mistake for not doing that. Will it slow me down. Should I send IV package and not wait to pay IV first?

Anyone?

Anyone?

I sent mine together and I also paid my fees on the same day. I had cover sheets for each package. I sent them in the same FedEx envelope. Each package gets sent to a different unit. It won't slow you down, you will have the same scan date and will probably get a CC faster ( IMO) They probably won't get reviewed the same day but it will be very close.

Wow... Sometimes some people don't know when to quit.

Question about the i-864 form:

Part 4 question 11: Its asking if my wife is a US citizen/perm resident. She is a naturalized citizen so I checked a "US Citizen". There is a section to enter the Alien number (It seems like its under the permanent resident option). My wife does have a Alien registration number (Since she is a naturalized citizen i guess), would we put that number in there? or leave it blank since she's a US citizen

Also, i looked at the sample i864 form on this site and I did not see where "NA" would be put. I am guessing where they ask if the form is to sponsor a family member (the answer is no) and where they say "Family number 1, 2, 3, etc" thats where I should put NA?

thanks

I paid AOS fee and sent AOS package. But I'm still waiting for IV fee. That's why I did not want to send IV package. But I heard different stories where people would send everything together.

First part, I would leave it blank. If you're checking box 11.a. most people that answer that won't have an A number, just put her SSN in box 10 and you should be fine.

I filled out the regular I-864 and did not write N/A on anything, I left blanks all over the place, and we did not receive a checklist. The NA/Blank fiasco has to do with form I-864EZ for the question about residence/mailing address.

I paid AOS fee and sent AOS package. But I'm still waiting for IV fee. That's why I did not want to send IV package. But I heard different stories where people would send everything together.

I think the only person on this thread that sent the IV package using the AOS barcode sheet is LRKO and she is away for 3 weeks so we won't know for a while if that went smoothly for them or not. I believe LoveMyTico had a lawyer, therefore, she paid the AOS and IV fee at the same time, had both barcode sheets at the same time, and sent the packages at the same time. A number of us on here, including Saylin, have agreed that it would be risky to send the IV package with the AOS barcode sheet. It just leaves more opportunity for them to lose your paperwork and could cause further delays.

I think I agree because you are sending original documents. You would screw yourself if the NVC lost them because you sent them without the barcode cover sheet. Hang tight and wait is my advise. I do understand why you want to send them together .. The backlog is horrible.

I completely agree. Until we hear from someone who has done that successfully, just wait to send the IV package until you have the corresponding cover sheet.

For everyone stuck in this NVC backlog: I know everyone wants to get out of NVC, but rushing will do you no favors. I see people getting the simplest and most avoidable check lists for rushing through the forms. Take this backlog time to breathe, review and re-review and ask. Use this horrible situation to your advantage.

Congratulations!!! :D

Yes I just hope I don't get it In the first place! Because I might not live the day to call Nvc hahaha. But this is indeed the dumbest checklist I have seen so far!! Let's hope it doesn't happen to anybody on this thread!

  if only we could get a lawyer for 100 bucks to call Nvc everyday

I would totally do that!! But alas, I'm not a lawyer.

My wife said she might change her degree and go into politics and revamp the whole immigration system...

Oh, oh, can she hire me? :D

Has anyone recently sent in AOS and IV packages together snail mail? Im trying to decide if I will do this or not, we have everything ready for both. What are the the reasons why some of you did not do this, disadvantages? From reading the Wikki it seems I can send both packages with the AOS coversheet. Please correct me if this is wrong.

In the wikki says the below: But i wanted to get some more information from peoples experiences, because you all are amazing!! :goofy:

Note: the two packages (AOS and IV) can either be mailed separately or together. Either one works. Again, as long as NVC receives it, that's all that matters. If you do decide to mail them together, I suggest putting each in a separate manila envelope (and clearly mark it and write "AOS" or "IV" on each one), then putting both manila envelopes inside the shipping envelope.

Sorry, but you're misunderstanding the wiki as I stated no where you can do that. If you send both packages together, each has their own respective bar-coded cover sheet. Right now, since there's a ~30 business day delay between filling out the DS-261 and getting the IV bill invoiced, sending both packages together is not smart as you'll have to wait close to 2 months (from when you're able to send the AOS package) before you can send the IV package. So, until time frames go down (if ever), it's smarter to send the AOS package as soon as possible. The reason why I state it's smarter is that in case you get a checklist on the AOS package, it won't delay your case as you likely won't even be able to send the IV package at that point.

But of course, that's just my opinion. You can of course do what you like ;)

I just pray and hope my AOS have been reviewed and approved. Scan date was June 13th, Its past 30business days already. Will call on Monday to find out.

Your AOS package may be reviewed on Monday or Tuesday. My AOS scan date is June 16th so I'll probably hear something next week too.

I'm relaxed about my AOS package since it won't delay my application timeline that much (maybe only 7-10 days) even if I get a checklist since I had to wait for 42 days to pay the IV fee (and I sent the AOS package as soon as I paid the fee). You did the same thing. You sent your AOS package as soon as you paid the fee. :star:

We have the identical timeline (almost). Fingers crossed for both of us!
