Hi I have a question about my friend situation, her husband just mailed their aos packet and forgot to include the barcode cover sheet, are they gonna get a checklist about it? If yes is it ok if that they will mail it? Thanks in advance for the answers.

When I submitted my IV docs, I totally forgot to have a cover sheet. Luckily, I had the DS 260 confirmation page in there. NVC matched that as it had my case number on it and placed all supporting docs on my file and my packet got approved too!

So, If your friend had the case number anywhere in the package NVC will match it up. If they didn't have the case # in the package, it will be an extra step for the NVC to locate it and then add it to the package. This would mean additional delays in getting the scanned date. (30 business days for it to review start after that)

That's the reason they specify-

"You MUST RETURN THIS COVER SHEET with the Petitioner's completed forms and supporting documents. Failure to do so will delay your visa(s)."

How long does it take for DS-261 to be processed. My understanding is that DS-261 needs to be processed before I can pay the IV fee. I filled out DS-261 on 07/10/2014. The agent said 5-10 days. Is that correct?

I wonder if the agent meant 5-10 business days until it shows complete/ready for review.

I was told our ds-261 (received june 25) would be under review for 30 biz days and the IV fee released after that time. That seems to be the general timeline around here.

My IV fee is still not available.

I recieved my NOA2 on 9 July14...I thought it was time for me to start calling the NVC yesterday but to my surprize I recieved this email yesterday saying that they had shipped my petition...Here is a copy/paste...

On July 23, 2014, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing

Now I am wondering when I should start calling the NVC? It was shipped from Nebraska. Any thoughts is welcome.

On June 17, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN

On June 25, 2014, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing.

we started calling NVC 2 weeks later .

July 9 they got the case from USCIS.

july 18 the case number was assigned.

NVC is reviewing both AOS and IV packages together now!?

They scanned my AOS package on June 16th. My IV package arrived at NVC on Tuesday. They'll probably scan my IV package tomorrow or next Monday.

I wonder if they'll review my AOS and IV packages at the same time? The 30th-business-day for my AOS package is July 29th (next Tuesday).

If they review my AOS and IV packages together, I'll save 30 business days (45 days)!

And if they start doing that then we will FORGIVE them for taking 30 business days to invoice IV. We will say 'it's ok take your time!'

Our case number was assigned July 3rd and we were in the same pattern until sometime last week. You can still count from the day the case number was assigned. Our emails came on the 21st, the DS-261 had become available on the 20th and the AOS fee became payable this morning.

It was taking 5-10 days for the IV to become available about 2 months ago! Now it's taking about a month.

Sounds like a new phone Agent was reading off an old memo!

Word of advice, take everything (except for check lists and case completes) those Agents tell you with a grain of salt. If you want an accurate time line of this process, follow Saylin's time line! Good luck! :-)

Hi all!! My lawyer just sent off both packages! I was wondering how we figure out what the scan dates is.. will it say it on the CEAC website or do we need to call the NVC? Also for anyone that is using a lawyer and had both packages sent together, do they get scanned at the same time and are both of them the usual "30 day wait"? Thank you all so much!

You need to call NVC to find out the "scan date". NVC will scan the AOS and IV at the same time but will not necessarily review them on the same day. Right now both IV and AOS are taking close to 30 business days.

Edit: Note it's currently taking 3-5 business days to scan packages after delivery.

Edit2: Also note if your attorney submitted packages via electronic processing (EP) then it's a different story altogether!
