Someone had an interview in Pakistan yesterday. They were approved, but the member mentioned the Consukate officer kept commenting on how slow their computer system was going.

A member in Taiwan was told yesterday that the system was down and while approved, there was nothing they could do on their end to issue the visa at this time as a result. A member in Australia reported no issue from their interview yesterday (they were approved).

When I called Islamabad embassy they said the system crash has had no affect on them. Then when I asked will it affect Nvc they said it's our closing time so call back again Tomm morning to ask lol. Bt Nvc said they haven't heard angry big like that. Well I guess we will see in a couple days!

NVC received my file: 07/11/14

Today I called and received the case no. and invoice no., but it says combo not find.

I called NVC again and confirmed the number. Still same issue.

Is there a lag between receiving the number and being able to login on online forms portal?

I haven't heard of anyone say the "combo not found" thing. I have certainly heard of delays from when you get numbers or invoices to when you can actually do anything with them, but I think I could log on with my numbers right away. It just told me that the numbers I used were not available for further processing at this time. I would continue to follow up with NVC until you can at least log on to see you're not allowed to do anything!

Anybody else experience "combo not found"?

I did call Nvc to check upon it. They said they have not heard about it. And neither did our local consulate because I check on them too (yes I know I am crazy :D) so maybe this will only affect Uscis or maybe some other visas. Because it actually affects their security checks which we have already been thru! Oh I hope we have gone past this system crash!!!

Either they're lying (or trying to cover it up) or it's really not affecting them. Or, maybe they're not even aware of the situation yet.

Also, by the way, there's security/background checks at every step (USCIS, NVC, and embassy/consulate) ;)

I'm guilty of using the vote thingy incorrectly LOL

HAHAHA!

I haven't heard of anyone say the "combo not found" thing. I'm thinking the OP was just summarizing the error and that it didn't actually say "combo not found" ;)

So, back when I was so naive that I thought my NOA2 was the end to the terror (so young, so innocent) I actually emailed the NVCinquiry address when 30 days passed and I hadn't heard anything.

Just this morning I got a stock response (to an email I sent on June 18th!) saying they received my inquiry into my case. It also says:

We received documentation for your case. Please allow 30 business days for us to review your documents.

So, is this just a stock response from my original email? When I emailed on June 18th I certainly hadn't sent in any additional documentation; I didn't even have my case number yet. Could this mean they are actually looking at my documents currently ( I assumed they just sat near a fire for at least a good two weeks after scan in) Does everyone get an email like this once their docs are scanned in?

Thanks!

My i-130 was received yesterday and now just waiting for the NOA1 to come in. Excited and nervous with this whole process, hopefully I can get the much needed help on this board through the process. Hopefully this process won't keep me and my wife apart for too long!

Any insight on how Canada compares to other countries in terms of processing times. I have checked all timelines and know they vary from just one month (for NOA 1 to NOA 2) to a whole year; but a general idea if Canadians are on the faster side comparatively?

Also, my wife is on my lease here in Canada and come stays with me for a month at a time and back in US for a month. I put our Canadian address as our current address living together, but put her official address as her Chicago one. Just wanted to get an idea to see if this is okay, and if this is seen as favorable or not.

Thank in advance for everyone's help in the coming (hopefully short) months.

In case you're not aware, this isn't an I-130 filers thread, this is the NVC thread (for when you get NOA2). But, you're obviously still welcome to learn as much of this process as possible before you get here! But, if you want anything I-130-specific, please go find the July I-130 filers thread ;)

AFAIK, country has nothing to do with it during the USCIS stage, so you won't be getting any "special treatment" by being from Canada. The same goes for the NVC step. The only time where the beneficiary is situated comes into play is for when interview dates get assigned. Since Canada is on the shorter times for assigning interviews (think it's around 1.5-2 months from case complete date to interview date), that's the only time where being from Canada will have a slight advantage (many countries have the same time frames).

Also, keep in mind, visiting and living are two completely different things. To me, it just sounds like your wife is visiting you, not actually living with you. Not sure if this will affect anything or not for your process at USCIS.

Hi Guys,

when you receive your Police Clearance Certificate do you sign where it says applicant signature before sending it to NVC?

Thanks much!!

Never heard this before. May be it is country specific? Where do you see applicant signature?

Yes, you should need another 2 passport pictures at the interview. And possibly depending on where you get your medical done, you'll need 3 for that as well. (They like having our pictures ;) )

And yes, when you see mention of people bringing originals to the interview at Montreal, it's because they did EP. If you snail mailed everything, then you don't need to worry about bringing originals as NVC will forward everything on to Montreal.

Thanks Saylin, I wish I had of known this and would have gotten more passport pics in the first place to save the time of doing it again. I know when this is all over I'll look back and probably ask myself why I was so stressed. With the thousands of people from all over the world pursuing life in the USA I realize this takes a long time. Thanks for your help and advice to all on here.

No problem. If you want, you can take your own pictures (and even print them from home if you have glossy paper) ;) That's what I did for the pictures needed at NVC, the medical, and the interview. Had absolutely no problems!

on the bottom of the police clearance it say applicant signature

Remember, there's no standard, world-wide format for police certificates  If yours has an applicant signature at the bottom, I'd suggest signing it then.
