My husband's Singapore police clearance took 2 months. He is Australian and lived in Singapore for 2 years.

Hi PCOZ

Thanks for this.

I have just called Singapore and they have some new rules. They now send the Certificate to the residence and not NVC. Also she said I can send the application without the checklist so am going to get it off today and see how we go. 2 months is crazy. Any idea why it took so long?

I just figured, since the instructions say to leave it blank if I write 'n/a' on it I'm not following instructions and risk a check-list.

I haven't sent the AOS yet.. so I have some time to think about my strategy.

I really don't know anything about anything, so I try to take all the information possible from the official channels. I've been assuming that the authorities know best what they want, although my brief time here at VJ has made it clear to me that that sadly isn't always the case.

Did anyone ('recently') get a check-list for filling in 'n/a' or something similar?

We followed the I-864 pdf instructions and left any space that did not apply blank.

We did not get checklisted for this.

I believe people are getting checklisted for blank spaces on the I-864ez.

This surely has delayed your case by another 45 days. It's good that you found the files. Make sure that you resend whole package again as a checklist reply. You may want to look at Saylin's WiKi for replying to a checklist.

All the best!

Jag

How has this delayed my case by 45 days? I didn't get a checklist, I sent files in for Electronic Processing and got an email that they couldn't open the files I sent on Saturday (3 business days ago)

I'm working on reassembling a new email with the fixed files, I figure I've lost a week tops. If it's 45 days I think I'll cry :crying:

Reading Saylin's wikis are always a good idea though... such amazingly helpful info to be found. You are right I should probably read the checklist one just in case. Thanks

Sorry, I did not mean to scare you. In your case it seems to be a better situation as I did not know that you sendt email 3 days ago and found the problem immediately. We are doing EP too. We had a checklist for I-864 ( a very miner thing). We received NAO2 on Jan 29th and are still here just because NVC could not find my wife's checklist reply in their system. She sent it twice.

I know in one case for (Lukiduki ) another VJer the PDF file was password protected and the matter was resolved in one week. I misread your post and thought that you got a checklist. I still suggest that you send whole package again to avoid delays in processing from NVC. Once again, I did not mean to scare you but was speaking from personal experience with NVC.

Wish you good luck and best wishes !

No worries, sharing information is why we are all here, I appreciate you taking the time and effort to reply to my post :)

I am definitely sending the whole package again, if I've learned anything from this forum it is that you have to keep checking up on things constantly to keep things moving. So sorry to hear that checklist delayed you guys by such a long time. Hang in there!

Yes, the Singapore Police Clearance was sent directly to us. We then made certified copies of it and included it with our IV package.

One of the NVC phone agents told me that Singapore took a notoriously long time to send the certificates out.

We had applied for it a few months before we had sent in our IV.

If it wasn't for reading/researching on VJ well ahead of submitting applications, we wouldn't have been prepared with all our police certificates.

You may be able to just bring the Clearance to your interview in Sydney.

I just talked to my husband about this, and he also said that on Singapore's Police site that it stated they were no longer issuing Clearances to Non-Singapore citizens. But we decided to get it anyway to be safe.

So it is possible that you could argue the issue with a Supervisor, as long as they see the proof that Sing is no longer issuing the Clearances to Non-Citizens.

But I see that you've already sent in the IV. I guess you will know soon enough?

Hi again all,

My wife (sponsor) is on the phone now talking to her parents in North Carolina. You can hear the emotion in their voices, they are looking so forward to us getting there. All we can say is we're still waiting. It almost feels like the NVC is trying to prove something and telling us just because you're from Canada, been married 12 years and visit here usually at least twice a year, don't think we're going to make it easy. With all the social health care etc. we have in Canada it's obvious anyone moving to the US from here is not trying to pull some kind of scam. There's really no benefit for an average Canadian to move to the USA on a family sponsorship other than being with the ones they love.
