I can't think of any way to pinpoint the specific file if you had tested it before sending it.

IIRC, when this happened previously, someone suggested to print everything out, then re-scan it in and that should fix the password-protect problem.

were they PDF's? did you check the security properties (Advanced/Security/Show Security Properties) prior to sending? You can not protect a MS Word document, but you can lock the editing....they would need to "enable editing" which should pop up at the top of the page (but is often missed).

Not sure what type of docs were sent so it is hard to say.

I have been very tempted to start issuing "checklists" of my own for not filling the form out properly. But, I'd have to create a separate account to PM folks as my inbox would get full extremely quickly! I'm already at like 80% full

Haha, I can have different certificates based on filling my form out correctly, having a filled out signature, an updated timeline, and making it through NVC without checklists (due to using all the information provided here) :star:

And yeah, the only thing really holding me back from seriously looking into it is the legal aspect of being able to give consultation/advice.

This would be nice. I seriously need to avoid any checklist, when I get to NVC

We were talking about this issue on one of my Facebook groups. If you can't pay it online, you could send a money order instead. However, I don't know how many days it'll take. http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/fees/alternate-method-of-payment.html

I wonder if anyone has sent a money order to pay for the AOS or IV fee here. If so, how many days did it take? :huh2:

This process is really killing. I wonder if anyone has paid NVC bill by mail.

I'm going to guess 30 business days.

If its going to take 30 business days to process bill sent by mail that's like a death sentence.

Actually, based on how many biz days it's taking them to review one day's worth of scans, I'm pretty sure they're going to tell us "40 business days" in about one month. :ranting:

You are right, with the way things are going, NVC will start telling us 40 business days because IV bill is taking about 33 to 35 business days. Honestly I guess they just issued the IV bill on Monday to us because it was already 30 business days and they don't want to give us another excuse so that was why they issued the IV bill and made it not to be available online for payment, just to avoid giving us another excuse since they always quote 30business for everything: newest strategy by NVC. And yet they can't even keep up with the 30business days quote: so annoying:

hmmm i did my form at the station and they are sending it to me?? they said its best to send it to me so i know its been received is it meant to go to the consulate? i thought i put it in the IV package?? sorry for the questions im just confused so much conflicting info out there.

Understandable, everything you read says something different :) I think you are fine to send the PCC to NVC, but it's also acceptable if you don't. They have it noted on their end that in Australia the certificates go straight to the consulate. My IV package was accepted last week and when I called to confirm that they were just waiting on my AOS checklist response, Kevin confirmed that in Australia they know the PCC goes to the consulate. There's no clear answer! I think you'll be fine either way.

I called NVC twice about it before sending my IV package, and also emailed the consulate to be sure. Both said it could just go straight to the consulate and when I emailed the consulate to confirm receipt, they said they had put it in the 'Interviews Pending' file.

Just reread that and realised what a vague response it is... Up to you - don't stress! :)
