I'm sorry that happened! The same thing actually happened to me when I reviewed mine, both with my SSN and my husband's A#. The issue is there is no space for the hyphens/spaces on the online form so when I typed both numbers with hyphens and spaces the number appeared as I was typing but when you exit the field the last numbers get dropped!

Hopefully there won't be much of a delay!

Yes I figured that was the issue. Im just mad at myself. Now this will set me back another 30 business days. Im gonna send it express mail, so if they do checklist at least it will be there. uggghhhh!

The spreadsheet looks fantastic and you did a great job. As per EP is concerned, my experience has been different every time I called NVC. They will give me different dates, they never told me when they actually opened and reviewed emails, some will tell me AOS was reviewed and approved. They will only tell me we see emails received certain dates and wait 30 business days, other times they will tell me different dates. I think the operators don't know much about EP or they don't have access to the whole picture. I was very surprised about the checklist reviewed so fast because they had emails not opened way after CC. Maybe others that have gone through EP can give you more information.

Yeah, it seems like most operators I've seen here don't know how to handle EP cases very well, which then makes it hard for me on how to figure things out if I go through with this new layout

Haha yeah not suggesting you open up the existing spreadsheet to anyone, that would be completely bananas :jest: Also a good way to age prematurely!

If you weren't suggesting opening it up to edit the spreadsheet, what'd ya mean then by "open source effort"?

Just got off the phone with NVC to check if my DS-261 had been enter/scanned (or whatever happens to it!) Sent on July 17, and still not in the system. And of course my AOS package that arrived on July 21 hasn't been scanned either. Had to check... Just want to know when our 30 business days start. I know I was being optimistic, but still... Ugh.

Ah sorry, I was referring to Yoda Sheet 2.0. So for instance, you maintain your existing spreadsheet as always, then for members who want to track additional info, there's Yoda Sheet. You could always handle both, but for folks who are calling NVC to get all the required dates, that's probably the kind of group that could collaborate successfully with minimal oversight. You could have people submit requests to have the doc shared with them and do a quick check that their profiles/sigs have sufficient data before granting access. Just a little less work for you, as it sounds like the submission form for the new sheet might require a study guide based on the troubles people have with the existing one  Randomly throwing out ideas while I overhaul some chaos in our content management system at work, so I might not be making sense

Right/Correct so when you print it out you have to hand write it in on some. It wouldn't let me put N/A or None on some of the questions. :)

But it says in the instructions pdf (page 2 'how to fill out form I-864 #3), that if an item is not applicable or the answer is "none", to leave the space blank.

So, is the pdf wrong?

Despite the form instructions, some people have received checklists for this. If it does happen, you can call and ask for a supervisor review, since you clearly followed the given instructions. The annoying thing is that a supervisor review might take as long as responding to the checklist. The forms need to be rewritten, frankly, and ideally the whole process should be moved online, as with the DS-261 and the DS-260.

(You are absolutely correct, though, that the form instructions say to leave it blank if it's not applicable.)

I just figured, since the instructions say to leave it blank if I write 'n/a' on it I'm not following instructions and risk a check-list.

I haven't sent the AOS yet.. so I have some time to think about my strategy.

I really don't know anything about anything, so I try to take all the information possible from the official channels. I've been assuming that the authorities know best what they want, although my brief time here at VJ has made it clear to me that that sadly isn't always the case.

Did anyone ('recently') get a check-list for filling in 'n/a' or something similar?

If you noticed- the I-864 instructions are from USCIS, and not the NVC. Funnily enough, there's no special instructions on how the NVC wants it done. I haven't notice anyone get checklist for putting N/A or none in a box that isn't applicable to them. However, there has been a lot of people who have received a checklist for leaving the place of residence blank, even if it's the same as the mailing address.

Oh, so you mean have a completely separate Yoda Sheet 2.0 (and not just a tab on my current spreadsheet) that anyone can edit? Yeah, I'd still be uncomfortable doing that just because I've seen other spreadsheets in the past that was open source and it was a complete disaster

I'd rather do a little extra work and have everything perfect than do no work at all and have a completely messy spreadsheet.

I have never seen someone get a checklist for N/A or none, but I have seen checklists for leaving things blank.

Remember, the I-864 instructions are on USCIS's website; NVC (a completely separate agency) clearly has their own. Although you may want to follow the official instructions, it's also best to take into consideration what's personally happening to members here.

I mentioned a few days ago, you're probably safe leaving things blank on the I-864, but on the I-864EZ, do NOT leave the place of residence question blank. As far as I can remember, that is the only question I've seen people get checklists for for leaving it blank. But, NVC can always change their minds and start issuing checklists for blanks on other questions, so, it's best to err on the safe side if you don't want to delay yourself by 30 days if you get a checklist.

So, before I create a new request form for the new layout, any other suggestions for columns? What about calculations, did I get all of them?

Also, question to those who did EP: are there received and scanned dates for emailed packages? Or is there basically just one date of when they received (or opened?) the email? Trying to figure out how the two columns for each package are going to work with those going through EP.

I'm doing EP, I called them, they told me there was no scan date actually (im not sure if it is true) but they received my email on the same day I sent. They told me once they open the email, they will review it right away.

So they asked me to count 30 business day from the day they received my email. i'm not 100% sure if she gave me correct answer; however, It seems true within 30 business day I sent because my AOS's checklist was issued after 26 business days.

Hope it helps... anyone correct me if i'm wrong...

on the I-864 instructions it actually says to leave it blank if it dosnt apply to you. I thought the same thing until i read over the instructions.

Yes it does but they don't follow their own rules and people get check lists I have seen this millions of times. N/A no matter what they have printed. :) I think they like giving check lists and it's why they say that hahahaaa just being paranoid.

Hmm, so in your case, the sent date and received date were the same, and no "scan" date.
