Ok Guys I have 2 questions about Police certificates

1. I read that you need a police certificate for each country you lived in after the age of 16, I have only lived in Australia and america (for 12mths) but when I went on to the Sate.Gov website and was reading about getting ready for IV package it said that you dont need one for living in America is this correct??? if its wrong does anyone know how to go about getting one from there???

2 and for any other aussies out there I went to police station today and filled out the form and did fingerprints ect how long does it normally take to get it back?

thanks guys

2. I didn't get fingerprints done, just submitted the online form, but it took 3 weeks for the certificate to be sent to the consulate in Sydney. Once I received the email stating that it had been issued, I gave it about a week and then emailed the consulate who confirmed receipt.

Hi Everyone, I am starting to be really concerned about this process.

I received my case number at NVC on June 2nd.

June 12, NVC received my AOS packet.

I've been checking and calling asking my status and all they can say is that

"NVC now takes 30 business days to process anything"

I can't submit my final application because IV hasn't been cleared for payment... should I be getting worried???

I thought AOS to DS-260 was only like a week or so. I had my religious wedding a month ago and will now have to return to work in about two weeks. I can't fanthom having to wait months for this process to complete :(

Jose Manuel Garcia

Um, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that is no where close to the current time frames. Once you submit the DS-261, it's taking about 30 business days for the IV bill to be invoiced. And the DS-260 only becomes available after the IV bill appears as PAID. As for the packages, it's taking 30 business days to review. So, yes, you'll be at NVC for a couple more months.

Saylin, I dont think there is a reveived dates, all I got is the scanned dates (it can be make change by NVC anytime they want to).

And here is the quote from nightingalejules.

Hmm, so maybe for EP cases, I can do the "received" date as when the email was sent, since theoretically, they should receive the email within a few seconds. Then I can use the "scanned" date as whenever NVC says they actually received or opened it (aka entered it into their system).

hi, you can find out when your case number was assigned from your case number.

D'oh, forgot all about that!! :bonk:

The added value NVC provides is as much as the doors in the design below:

http://cdn.top4top.net/i_4ac589d65b0.jpg

:blink::blink::blink::blink:

I know now with the new system they can "see" that there are e-mails attached to your case number within days of you sending it, but I don't think this is the same as scanned date because they never know what is in the e-mail when I asked. I'm assuming that once they get around to opening it, they are reviewed at the time and the scanned date is just the date they received it because you already did what they do to the physical mail, scan them as .pdf's to have in a digital database, I think?.

On another note..

My case was expedited and I got the letter dated July 9 that the expedite request was approved and the case with all files were immediately sent to the embassy, so I'm not sure what you want to do for me on the spreadsheet. I don't want to skew the data the wrong way so if you would like to adjust it in anyway feel free. My spouse received the e-mail to schedule an interview appointment online on July 13 and CEAC at this time said "READY". We did this ourselves and chose our own date based on what was available and they sent an e-mail confirmation of the interview appointment on July 27. This is all of the information I have so far.

As I mentioned above, I think I'll use the scanned date as when they "see" it as you put it. So, time frames for EP might be a little different in regards to packages than for those mailing it in...

And thanks for the update (grats on the expedite and swift interview!!). I'll put 7/9 as the case complete date since that's when NVC essentially completed the case (and sent it off).

so what does LLL201469900N means ?

If you're asking specifically about the 2014699 portion, that means the case number was assigned on July 18th, 2014.

Although I think the new spreadsheet definitely offers more information, I have to just say that I prefer the old spreadsheet for being easier to read. Without as much scrolling, you can see at a glance the general trends and a summary of people's cases. It's awesome that you're willing to maintain a spreadsheet, and it's such a great resource for us, so thank you! But I kind of prefer the old one.

Thanks for the input! Hmm, does anyone else feel this way? Don't want to put all this effort in if most people find the old layout better.

Can I ask you is your husband a Singapore Citizen. I understood that Singapore only give police clearances to Singapore Citizens now.

Also do you know why it took so long to get. It says on the Singapore Police Forms that they give the Certificate in 15 to 10 business days.

My husband's Singapore police clearance took 2 months. He is Australian and lived in Singapore for 2 years.

As with your wiki, the only way the new sheet will be successful and reliable is if people use it. A good chunk of the posts on this thread are people asking what others' scan dates were. If they used the spreadsheet, they wouldn't have to ask (but, the same people who don't read the wiki won't read the spreadsheet lol).

The way I used the spreadsheet was to look at the recent CCs, look at the IV send date and then added a couple days for their scan date - it was taking roughly 1-2 days to scan in at that time.

I think you're probably catering to the highest common denominator with the new design, and while there's nothing wrong with that in and of itself, I do think there'll be a huge reduction in people who contribute data and consequently in how useful the sheet is. Having more data points is awesome but I'm not sure you'll end up with enough data sources to get the most out of your hard work. Knowing how often you post about people incorrectly submitting their updates now, and knowing that's just a fraction of all the instances you actually see, I tend to think adding and maintaining layers of complexity will be an uphill battle.

I need some advice I was reviewing my 864 last night and noticed that on the line where my social security number was that the last 2 digits were missing. Aos was scanned june 24. Iv was scanned June 26. I corrected this error and reprinted the whole package. What are my chances of getting a checklist? Do I send it off to Nvc so its there just in case? If they dont check list me, tell them to disregard the 3rd package? I know its a stupid mistake and im so mad at myself.

I'm sorry that happened! The same thing actually happened to me when I reviewed mine, both with my SSN and my husband's A#. The issue is there is no space for the hyphens/spaces on the online form so when I typed both numbers with hyphens and spaces the number appeared as I was typing but when you exit the field the last numbers get dropped!

Hopefully there won't be much of a delay!

Maybe a more sophisticated sheet could be an open source effort? The members who contribute to such a thing are bound to be pretty reliable with upkeep, since they're likely to be the ones most invested in following the process and attuned to details ;) I'm thinking as a supplement to the existing sheet, so that interested members could opt in to more rigorous tracking if they'd like, but you don't lose out on data from the less OCD among us

So, before I create a new request form for the new layout, any other suggestions for columns? What about calculations, did I get all of them?

Also, question to those who did EP: are there received and scanned dates for emailed packages? Or is there basically just one date of when they received (or opened?) the email? Trying to figure out how the two columns for each package are going to work with those going through EP.

The spreadsheet looks fantastic and you did a great job. As per EP is concerned, my experience has been different every time I called NVC. They will give me different dates, they never told me when they actually opened and reviewed emails, some will tell me AOS was reviewed and approved. They will only tell me we see emails received certain dates and wait 30 business days, other times they will tell me different dates. I think the operators don't know much about EP or they don't have access to the whole picture. I was very surprised about the checklist reviewed so fast because they had emails not opened way after CC. Maybe others that have gone through EP can give you more information.

Have not been able to pay the IV bill up till now. I spoke with a supervisor today and he said it will be available any time from now till few days. Have been checking the website every minute. I guess maybe they are applying a new method to this already long process. I'll let you know as soon as the bill become available. Please let me know whenever the bill is available for you to pay.

Still not seeing the IV portal in the CEAC website. 3 days and counting since the time we received the email for IV invoice. :clock:
