Hi savagechair,

Fortunately for me the border to USA is just a short drive down the highway, so I'll be crossing at the border to Niagara Falls, N.Y. right after I get my approval. We plan on driving down to our home in North Carolina and getting our N.C. drivers licenses and switch the ownership and plates to N.C as well, then we'll come back up to Canada to tie up loose ends and drive down there for good end of June 2014. I already confirmed with USCIS that this is ok. They said, once you enter as a permanent resident I can come back to Canada as long as I'm not outside the USA for more than one year.

Sorry I meant end of June 2015.

I'm feeling more stressed about this every day. I can't get over that dumb mistake on the I-864. So we entered the gross income wrong? We sent the IRS tax transcript in with it that showed the proper amount anyways. I know the rules are the rules, but why would they want to create more work for themselves when they're already got piles of cases to review? All my family are looking so forward to us getting down there. I've been married to my US wife long enough that I'm a complete part of the family and an Uncle and a Grand Dad to the kids. I know I'll get there eventually. Been married to my US wife almost 12 years now so they can see it's definitely not a marriage of convenience. Ok I vented and feel a little better now. lol

Hi Everyone, I am starting to be really concerned about this process.

I received my case number at NVC on June 2nd.

June 12, NVC received my AOS packet.

I've been checking and calling asking my status and all they can say is that

"NVC now takes 30 business days to process anything"

I can't submit my final application because IV hasn't been cleared for payment... should I be getting worried???

I thought AOS to DS-260 was only like a week or so. I had my religious wedding a month ago and will now have to return to work in about two weeks. I can't fanthom having to wait months for this process to complete :(

I feel your pain. I had the same dumb mistake on my I-864 and have also been married almost 12 years and have 3 children together (who are all US citizens)! My family in America can't understand what is taking so dang long for us to get there.

I just have to keep my days busy and try to forget about the process until it's over.

Hi Amanda4964 I got my AOS checklist just 3 days after you did. I hope you get a case complete soon and hopefully I'll get my cc around the same time.

So, before I create a new request form for the new layout, any other suggestions for columns? What about calculations, did I get all of them?

Also, question to those who did EP: are there received and scanned dates for emailed packages? Or is there basically just one date of when they received (or opened?) the email? Trying to figure out how the two columns for each package are going to work with those going through EP.

Saylin, I dont think there is a reveived dates, all I got is the scanned dates (it can be make change by NVC anytime they want to).

And here is the quote from nightingalejules.

Hello, again everyone! Just checking in after my weekly call to NVC and it appears that they're more or less randomly changing dates on "mail received". Last week when I called they said they had mail logged in on june 10th or 11th and the 25th. Now they say that they have mail received on june 24th and July 4th. Neither of the dates is the same as before... Just awesome.

On the plus side, I had a bit of a health scare this past couple of weeks but it turned out to be nothing. So that's a gigantic relief! I had visions of having gone through all of this and then having to quit the process while I had surgery or treatment in Canada.

I know the rules are the rules, but why would they want to create more work for themselves when they're already got piles of cases to review?

I have a sneaking suspicion that they're creating more work on purpose for their job security. :secret:

The more checklists they issue, the more work they will have. It means better job security for them. :wow:

I don't understand why NVC exists in the first place. We can submit all the necessary documents to USCIS and they can verify everything; then, transfer our cases to our Embassy/Consulate. That's how CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada) does and they manage to process spousal applications in 4-9 months. So it may be in their best interest to issue as many checklists as possible to make themselves look busy! :wow:

I didn't have a problem getting both, but I think in Saylin's wiki it says some of them won't give it out so you should just try to call again and talk to someone else. My DS-261 was available the day before I got the invoice with all of the numbers so if you want to shave off a day or so, it may be worth it to call back.

Good luck!

hi everyone! its been awhile since i had a chance to go on visa journey its because i just came back from my long vacation to be with my husband. anyway, just an update, we received a checklist on april 14, 2014... it was a singapore police clearance for my husband, the process took 2 months to secure the police clearance. we have sent the response to our checklist on july 3 and based on the tracking the package was delivered to NVC on july 7, 2014.... does anybody know how long do we get an interview notice? and do we received an email or a letter? i hope someone can help or answer me with my question. thanks! :)

Can I ask you is your husband a Singapore Citizen. I understood that Singapore only give police clearances to Singapore Citizens now.

Also do you know why it took so long to get. It says on the Singapore Police Forms that they give the Certificate in 15 to 10 business days.

We are in the same boat as you. We have been married 17 years have two US Citizen children ages 13 and 15 and I used to have a Green Card.

What is worse for us is that my husband went to the US to start his new job last September thinking we would all be there 1 month later. 11 months and we are still waiting and the children aren't even with their Dad. Absolutely crazy!!

I actually just spoke with Todd (NVC rep), and he told me a my casenumber was assigned a week earlier than the previous rep told me. Is there some kind of miscommunication happening here, or can assignment dates change afterwards?

hi, you can find out when your case number was assigned from your case number.

I'm the beneficiary, wife of USC.
12/30/2012: Got engaged.
1/16/2013: Got married in India.

I-130:
2/28/2013: Attorney mailed the I-130 from a U.S. address.
3/4/2013: Priority date, NOA1.
11/6/2013: Case was transferred to Nebraska Service Center.

1/6/2014: 60 days of transfer are up, put in an e-request, given 30 days' time. Contacted the senator. Senator asked to wait till Feb 6 and if nothing then she will do something.
2/5/2014: Website status changed to RFE.
2/10/2014: Attorney gets RFE. They need G325A and photos of both me and husband, original marriage certificate, copy of marriage record and it's translation.
2/15/2014: Mailed the requisite documents to husband.
2/19/2014: Documents received by husband.
2/24/2014: RFE mailed.
2/26/2014: Case status changed to RFE review.
3/6/2014: After 367 days, NOA2.

After approval kept calling NVC but NVC always had one reply, file was not in their system. Husband too called USCIS National Customer Service Center and was told case was sent to NVC.
4/2/2014: Write to NSCFollowup to know about the status of the petition.
4/10/2014: Put in a ?service request with USCIS starting with OVP to locate case.
4/16/2014: Reply from NSCFollowup that the U.S. law prohibited that office from responding to anyone other than the petitioner and to have the petitioner contact them.
4/18/2014: Sent email to NVC Research to locate the case.
4/22/2014: Petitioner sent email to NSCFollowup
5/14/2014: Receive email from NVC Research that they do not have a record of receiving the petition.
5/16/2014: Congressman's immigration caseworker contacted supervisor at NSC who said the petition is pending and will be dispatched in two weeks.
5/27/2014: Petitioner received response from NSCFollowup that the case was pending an internal extended review. Really?
6/19/2014: USCIS case status change, "On June 19, 2014, we shipped this case..."
7/1/2014: Case received at NVC.
7/14/2014: NVC case number assigned.
8/1/2014: AOS and IV fees invoiced.
8/2/2014: AOS and IV fees paid.
8/5/2014: AOS and IV fees status changed to paid.
8/6/2014: AOS and IV packages mailed, completed and submitted DS-260.
8/7/2014: AOS and IV packages delivered to NVC.
8/8/2014: AOS and IV packages put into the system (scanned).
9/20/2014: Get the 60-day email.
9/30/2014: Case Complete!
10/3/2014: Interview scheduled for November 7.
10/20/2014: Medical appointment.

11/07/2014: Interview.

11/29/2014: POE JFK.
