OK, I just paid the AoS fee 5 minutes ago. I got emails from NVC stating that it was ready. It is 7/2 in Japan but the printed cover sheet says 7/1 since it is still 7/1 at night in the US. so I guess I should update my timeline to say 7/1.

It gives you the option to print your receipt for the AoS fee in addition to the cover sheet. Is this also just for my own reference or should I include a copy of the receipt along with the cover sheet in my AoS packet?

By the way, I am waiting for some papers to come in the mail before I can send my AoS packet but they will probably arrive on Friday. If the AoS fee doesn't say cleared yet, do you think it still would be OK to just go ahead and send the AoS packet on Friday anyway? I figure since it says it takes 3 business days that it would most likely be cleared by the time the packet arrives at NVC anyway but... what do you all think? Thanks for any advice!

IV fee invoice ???

Posted

Hi everyone,

Congrats to all the folks with good news today and yesterday. I just mailed off the IV docs today, and so am hoping that things keep moving...

Question for Latin American folks or anyone else that might know... on the ds-260 I am trying to fill out the part about education, and wondered if anyone might have a good translation for my husband's degree. It says técnico superior universitario... but looking in dictionaries and online translation options I can't find anything precise-- I am guessing it is a regionally specific usage in any case?

I will also post on the regional forum, but would appreciate any ideas here as well... thanks!

It's no longer a big deal to get a checklist on the AOS package since it now takes 30 days to pay the IV fee. That's one "positive" thing about not being able to pay the IV fee for 30 days.

If you get a checklist, you can send your checklist document and IV package at the same time.

Of course, it's better not to receive a checklist on the AOS package, but my point is it won't delay your application process that much assuming you send your AOS package as soon as you can pay the fee. :)

Thank you! That is quite comforting. :-)

Maybe someone here had this issue or someone with knowledge of this can help me. My husband is the petitioner and he hadn't filed taxes for 2011, 2012, 2013 until about a week ago (we had no knowledge of him having to do this while living abroad). Now my question is because he filed a 1040 and 2555ez (foreign earned income exclusion form) his total income on line 22 became 0 because of the 2555ez. Does this mean that on the i-864 part 6, question 13a, 13b, and 13c should all be zero? Yes a 2555ez was filed for each one of those years.

I haven't caught up on the thread yet, so not sure if you have been answered yet.

You should put whatever is on line 22 on the 1040 on question 13. It must match your tax return, I got checklisted for this.

Guys - 2 NVC AOS questions.....

1) I got a checklist for one issue, when I send back the revised AOS with this issue fixed, when they review do they/can they then heck list me for other components? i would have thought they would provide a full checklist 1st time no?

2) I have read you only get 2 attempts at the AOS? If you fail the 2nd time you bring to the interview ..... is this the norm?
