Hi all, my husband and I received a checklist from NVC which we sent back last week. We were informed 20-30 business days for review but are wondering if anyone has any experience with this being faster? We've been in the NVC stage since April and it feels like it will never end. Thanks!

I just showed my husband my tentative new spreadsheet layout (and how far it scrolls) and I quote: "That's ridiculous, that's just a little ridiculous."

:secret: I've got a feeling my husband thinks I'm crazy :energy:

It looks very nice :wow:

Seems like an awful task to keep it updated though.

Ok then, screw up, do your job slowly or don't do it at all and you will have a job for life at Immigration. :D Problem solved.

So, I gotta be like the complete opposite of what I actually would do? :jest:

Find him a hobby and get him off your back.

You do spend a lot of time and effort here. What spouse would tolerate that indefinitely, unless they're extremely busy themselves?

Seriously... If I were you, I would stop responding directly to posts all day, everyday, and initiate instead a weekly Ask-Saylin webinar, or announce you'll only answer questions posted during a certain day of the week. Let us, your lieutenants, deal with the rest of round the clock traffic. If we get mystified, we'll tell the poster "we'll get back to you in 5 business days" or refer him to the "supervisor" if it's urgent.

He was just joking! Mostly  And he's always on his computer, so no worries here ;)

Hahaha, am I Supervisor Saylin now where I only get the escalated questions? And if you look back at threads from last year, I've already taken a big step back from answering questions. I used to almost answer each person, but as of the last few months, I couldn't handle telling another person to "read the first post" among other things, so now I answer people much less frequently. I still chit chat a lot though :P

Saylin, the new spreadsheet looks intense, but it's AMAZING! It would be so great to have all that info at our fingertips. Thanks again for all of the amazing work you do! You are making a huge difference in people's lives during a very stressful time.

You are appreciated!

Thank you! ^_^

Hi Saylin

I have been reading the threads today about the new spreadsheet. Being a bit of a spreadsheet guru myself I think it looks fantastic. Great job. I KNOW everybody is always thanking you but we really are very fortunate to have you do this, particularly as you finished with our friends USCIS and NVC so long ago.

Big hugs.

As a fellow spreadsheet guru, you don't think it's too many columns?

Saylin. My laptop is being worked on and I am useing iPod ugh got IV bill 7/16 paid it 7/18 I am waiting for it to open I have to send out IV doc

Thanks, let me know when your IV package is sent then.

It looks very nice :wow:

Seems like an awful task to keep it updated though.

As long as people would fill out the form properly, then I just transfer over the information, as I'm doing now. But if I do go through with this, only people serious about data-crunching and helping others to figure out time frames should add themselves (because it'll mean calling NVC to get some of these dates and I've noticed not everyone cares for this); this isn't just a 'hey look, I'm on Saylin's spreadsheet!' sort of thing

Maybe you'll need to "sign" some sort of contract on my request form saying that if you want to be on the spreadsheet, you promise to call NVC to get all these dates and keep me updated within a few days of each step :D

So you're telling me there are people who don't cares about the dates and the data crunching? Seems odd to me, I'd think everyone in this kind of situation would like to have a estimate when they can finally be done with all this. Even if its just a rough estimate based on other people's data.. still better than nothing right?

The only reason I can control myself from calling the NVC every day is that right now calling has no use what so ever for my case, and if I call without a reason I'll just be blocking other people who actually need to talk to a NVC representative.

I actually just spoke with Todd (NVC rep), and he told me a my casenumber was assigned a week earlier than the previous rep told me. Is there some kind of miscommunication happening here, or can assignment dates change afterwards?

Yeah, it's sad that there's some people who could care less about the spreadsheet and getting all the correct data :( And yes, the end result would be getting a better idea of how long things take.

Had you been calling every day between the 10th and 15th? If you had, and only found out on the 15th of the case numbers, that does sound a bit odd. If you hadn't been calling (and by the sounds of it, this doesn't sound like you, lol), then I'd say that's normal as you hadn't been calling to find out EXACTLY when something occurred. For the former, you may want to call up again in a few days and ask again. Perhaps Todd just mis-read something.

Up until the 14th I got a solid 'I'm sorry, we don't have a case-number assigned to your case yet.', which is why I think its odd that the assignment-date is now 'earlier'.

I'm calling them again next Tuesday, and I'll ask them about it then. I try not to call too often, but once a week should be OK.

I kinda hope Todd did not misread anything, then maybe the next step is 5 days closer than I anticipated haha.

Timeline

I know - it is crazy isn't it. My children started Term 3 today - reluctantly. They had thought they would finish here after Term 2. I have told them they can finish when I get my interview date so they have some time off before going into a full year in the US. Of course by the time they get there it will be quite a few weeks into the year.

Daughter got her Clarinet today and is insistent on practising right in front of the brother!!! World War III is about to erupt and the dogs are shaking!!!

A classic sibling spout in full swing I see. My kids, at 8-13, are still inching there way towards this hormonal battlefield.

Yeah, what irks me is, my kids would start their school year late in the US, and I have to pay school tuitions here in Kuwait so they don't miss out on the year in case we go into a prolonged AP.

Honestly, I never looked at the spreadsheets. I always sent in my data to help other people (in fact I need to go update my timeline) but I'm simply not the type of person who is helped by those things. I really, really appreciate all the work that goes into them. And I send in my information so I'm accounted for. But I never studied them. Ever. :(

And that's true, if your case number was assigned on the 10th, you're that much closer to the next step!

It's alright if YOU personally didn't use the spreadsheet to study the data, but contributing is the important thing as it helps OTHERS who are interested in data crunching to get estimates! So thank you for that :)

I already sent an update request for the spreadsheet in my enthusiasm, you may ignore it up until I confirm the new date is correct in a week or so.
