If you're referring to the I-864, part 4, question 12 and you didn't answer that question, then yes, you'll get a checklist as it's a required question.

The question says for petitioner sponsors only. My father, who's our joint sponsor, refused to answer the question because he is not a petitioner sponsor but a joint sponsor. (He was happy to be a joint sponsor but was very annoyed by the paperwork and forms asking him all this personal info.) We marked N/A next to the question. Will this incur a checklist?

Even if it does, I doubt I can convince my father to answer the question on a new form. Argh.

I know what you mean! I get the same questions all the time. :content:

Many of my friends think I can just cross the border and wait in the US since I'm Canadian. :D

Did I mention I live only 40 minutes from the border?

Are you doing EP or did you send your packages by mail? :huh2:

If you're doing EP, NVC may be able to check your checklist document faster than 45 days (30 business days).

I think at least one person got her checklist reply in 1-2 weeks and she was doing EP. I'm not sure if she got lucky or NVC reviews EP checklist documents faster.

Yes it's crazy, I live in Toronto so I'm just over an hour to the border. I've been sending all my docs in regular mail. As long as this is all done by November I'll be happy. If not, at least I'm not retiring from my job here until next June.

Just a friendly heads up...I think you have to cross/move within 6 months of getting the visa. June might put you past that? Maybe you already have a plan, but if not, I'd hate for you to be bamboozled wih this info at interview :)

It may delay more than 1.5 months (45 days). :dead:

It takes time for a package to arrive at NVC (unless you send it via overnight express) AND takes 5 business days for NVC to scan your package. THEN, your 30 business days (45 days / 6 weeks / 1 month and half) starts. :clock:

1 day (overnight express) + 5 days (scan) + 45 days (review) = 51 days! :bonk:

You are such a ray of sunshine :P

Thanks msc13, best of luck to you too. Like I said I sent in the corrected I-864 on July 9th. On the 15th I received another email from NVC and thought wow that was fast! But it was just an emall saying they were still waiting for a response to the checklist. I took it as a positive that this may be the only thing holding my case from being completed. This is what the first part of the letter from July 15th said:

The NVC has received the requested DS-260, Online Immigrant Visa Application. However, we are still

waiting for the response to the checklist letter for the Affidavit of Support. Please return the requested

information so that we may complete your case.

That's a false checklist based on them reviewing your DS-260

Hello all,

I am new to this awesome forum. I have received my NOA2 last friday. I want to know how much it will take to be received by NVC ? I mean right now are they working faster ? I am too excited !!!!

Thank you.... :dancing:

Quite the opposite actually. Expect to wait around 30 business days for each step. Please read post 1.

Me to I love my Desk Top it's the bestestestest. ;) hehehee I hope they never stop making them. :D

Happy your back and safe on home turf. :D:dance:

I doubt they'll ever stop making desktops!

And thanks ^_^

Ok thank you if you say so then I wont stress over it I'll just let my husband know. I'll send him a letter to give them so they can put it in the file. :) ty doll. (F) (L) (F)

the mobile version also does not have a way to skip to the most recent posts so every time you open the forum you spend several minutes loading page after page to get to the post recent posts. FYI i have an iPhone. Excuse me ahead of time if i'm just mobile illiterate.

Tomorrow is business day #29 waiting for our case complete. (scan day June 9) The wait is killing me.

Well, when I initially landed on the mobile site, I wasn't logged in, so it brought me to the first post. Once I logged in, I went back to my email and clicked on the link again, it then brought me to the most recent post. I have an Android, so not sure if an iPhone is any different.

Argh.

And of course USCIS's website is down and I can't look at the I-864 -_- Guess you'll just have to wait and see if you get a checklist.

Hmm, you may be right in that only petitioners need to fill that specific question out and that joint sponsors aren't required to fill it out. But, since NVC isn't USCIS and tends to have their own reviewing instructions, a checklist might still occur. Guess only time will tell :clock:

Hey everyone! My wife just finished talking to a supervisor from NVC about the IV bill. He told her that we can send the IV package even though we haven't payed the bill yet. I'm little confused...

Hi savagechair,

Fortunately for me the border to USA is just a short drive down the highway, so I'll be crossing at the border to Niagara Falls, N.Y. right after I get my approval. We plan on driving down to our home in North Carolina and getting our N.C. drivers licenses and switch the ownership and plates to N.C as well, then we'll come back up to Canada to tie up loose ends and drive down there for good end of June 2014. I already confirmed with USCIS that this is ok. They said, once you enter as a permanent resident I can come back to Canada as long as I'm not outside the USA for more than one year.
