Who in the eff do you work with?! Your colleagues sound like real pieces of work, to put it lightly. I hope they're oblivious rather than deliberately cruel :( So glad your husband will be home with you soon!

I work in a social service agency. And we work with immigrants, some are undocumented. The "joke" was an undocumented client was told by their attorney the best way for them to get legal status is to get married. My co-worker nudged me and smiled.

Credit to my co-worker, though. She approached me later and apologized for that remark. Then acknowledged she can't even begin to understand this nightmare.

The big girl word comes handy, I stopped telling friends and family when I am" finally" leaving. I will let everyone know when I get there (except kids of course)lol

Called this morning right when they opened, got through on my first ring - got Kerry, she was very friendly. Asked to have our case looked at by a supervisor since it's been 30 days and still no IV so she checked it out and said she'd put it under review and said we should hear something shortly... fingers crossed!

So for anyone who's been waiting 30 business days since they've submitted ds-261, call them and ask to have a supervisor review the case!

I called yesterday and the rep said the same - a note to supervisor. Today, I received an e-mail saying that I should submit DS-261 online. I have called office again and asked the rep - why I received the letter even though I have submitted it online. He has no other answer except - you don't have to complete it again. When asked about expected time to received IV fee...he says cases taking beyond 30 days is normal and I should get response some time soon. I am really fed up with this process and these guys.

Welcome, I have seen this happen to one other person and it was pretty smooth sailing and didn't take as near the time as it has for us. Good luck to you welcome to the thread and for Gods sake please don't let that happen again. ;)(F) (L) (F)

Or we will :bonk: you heheheheeee. Thank you and the same to you.

Hi Soloenta

I absolutely agree to not do this again -- I think my husband would actually kill me. Unfortunately, we didn't realise how important the reentry visa was considering i'm away studying on a Federal student loan and was filing taxes. Looking back, it was silly not to look into it. Then again, we presumed we would be traveling back often. Either way, it's been a very stressful year thus far.

I hope this process goes smoothly -- your words are encouraging, especially thinking about my husband and daughter being separated. That being said, I don't deserve it to go more smoothly for me over anyone else.

I hear you, although I voluntarily surrendered mine due to an overseas posting. I did my Adjustment Of Status in the US a year after 9/11 and it was a breeze compared to this slog! Good luck with everything

Hi MacauPDX,

It's crazy! After receiving an offer to study at Cambridge (one I never thought i'd get/couldn't refuse), we jetted off to the UK without thinking about a reentry permit. I thought having a Federal student loan and filing taxes was enough. Now I need to get back to the US to conduct my research. It's frustrating!

I hope everything goes well for you!

I know, it's beyond frustrating. We haven't heard anything since they made a note to supervisor either.

NVC Received 9/26/14

Arrived in US: 3/8/14

STILL HAPPY AND NORMAL AS OF 8/4/2016!!

AOS Approved per phone: 10/22/14
*Received what I thought was a false checklist on this date as well*

*Problems: Called on 10/27/14 11/5/14 and 11/20/14 just to be proactive On all of these dates except the last, NVC kept telling me that my IV document probably hadn't been reviewed yet. On 11/20 the representative told me that the BC needed to be inextensa and the marriage license. True enough I had sent an extracto. But requested a supervisor review bc I knew the marriage lic was inextensa. 2 days later called again and got the same supervisor who told me that the marriage lic needed the proper signed legalizada (sticker on the back)

Sent necessary documents/Received: 11/20/14 and 11/26/14

Called 12/15/14: got Arthur....after he checked and verbally spanked he sent me to supervisor Silvia who said she would pull my file and try to figure it out.

Case complete: 12/19/14 Sylvia called and left a voicemail, called and confirmed later that night and status changed to N/A.

Thank you so much Sylvia. May God bless you and your family.

Appointment date and time received: 12/27/14

***FAST FORWARD***

APPT complete/Visa approved: 2/5/2015

I was told DO NOT reopen the DS261 after you have submitted it because it will reset your waiting time for IV invoice.

I am the sponsor and have been living and working in Canada for over 17 years. I used my Canadian residence on the i864 which matches my wifes (beneficiary). My AOS was recently approved with this arrangement.

One thing I have going for me is that I work as a contractor for an American company and they gave me a contract stating they would employ me once I move there so I included that with my i864. Before our interview, I plan on getting a Cali drivers license, flipping over to the US payroll and getting an apartment so that I don't have problems during the interview in Montreal.

Thanks for the reply. I am using our Canadian address as my mailing address and residence in that section, but, there is another item labeled country of domicile that I am still pondering over. Did you put Canada for that?

I won't have a job carrying over, but, I will have a job offer from another employer and I can also go down and get a driver's license if need be.
