Is writing "N/A" absolutely necessary? The instructions do say to leave it blank... I hope the fact that I left blanks doesn't end up in a checklist...

So far, as far as I can remember, the only question left blank that results in a checklist is the one on place of residence (and it may be specifically for just the I-864EZ and not the I-864 [if someone got a checklist for this for the I-864, please share!]). On that question, it says something to the effect of 'if different from mailing address'. For most people, it's the same. So, if there's one question to not leave blank, it'd be this one, as I see a checklist for it all the time.

I know you've already submitted it, but to everyone else: just re-enter your address on this one.

Edit: if someone's gotten a checklist for leaving something blank for another question, please share, so I know for the future ;)

Phew! Then that makes me feel better - I filled it in. On the I-864, at least, it doesn't give the "if different from mailing address" option.

Yeah, I just noticed it was different between the two forms. Still though, for the I-864EZ, it says "if it's different", so why they're issuing checklists is ridiculous. If they want it to be required, they should remove that if statement.

Agreed. There are a lot of things that could be improved though... the list is a long one!

That's a real bummer... My AOS packet hasn't been reviewed yet... wonder if I should resend with blanks filled in as "N/A"

Yeah, goodwin and bdrew are right. There have been far too many checklists for stupid things, and leaving blank spaces was one of them. I wouldn't worry just yet, you may be lucky and not get one. Sit tight and wait because your AOS should be reviewed soon, yes?

Unfortunately, the instructions are not accurate for what the NVC expects. From what I've read, the instructions are for submitting to a different agency. The NVC doesn't actually have correct instructions, and a number of people have been getting checklists for this because the instructions are explicitly misleading.

You know, it's sad, but I never put two and two together. The I-864 forms (and its instructions) are on USCIS's website, yet those forms (for IR-1/CR-1 cases) are being submitted to NVC, a completely different agency. And clearly NVC has their own way of reviewing these forms :bonk:

I wonder if those who submit the I-864 directly to USCIS (for other visa types) have as much problems as those at NVC do.

Agreed. There are a lot of things that could be improved though... the list is a long one!

Oh yes, that's definitely an understatement!

You are right Saylin, the checklists have been reading here is for those who leaves blank for the space of the place of residence if different from mailing address. Because for example I can't imagine someone getting checklist for leaving blank spaces for form 1-864 part 1, 1.d or 1.e or 1.d or 1.f.

The checklist is more with those who filled i-864EZ. I stand to be corrected.

That makes sense. I filed an I-864EZ and felt way more paranoid about not leaving blanks anywhere.

Hey guys, I have a question about the ds-260 and I have searched on the web and read through the wiki and i cant find the answer anywhere... so I was wondering if you guys know what do do. (I hope I don't irritate anyone ;-) )

On the last 5 visits to the USA the duration of the trip has an option to fill it in in day(s), week(s), month(s) or year(s). If a trip was over a month (for example) should I put in the whole number of months? Or should I fill it in as accurately as possible, e.g. # of day(s)? If I put months, should I put a decimal number of months if a trip was between 1-2 months (for example)? Or is this too complex for the NVC? For anyone who filled this out, what did you write?

(I am asking because I am currently in the USA visiting my hubby and am not exactly sure of the date at which I will leave, but know I will leave before the 3 month limit on the visa waver program so is it ok to round it and put 2 months?)

Also congrats on CCs! I am so jealous, but can't complain as I am currently with my hubby, albeit temporarily!

I JUST CALLED NVC AND THAT OPERATOR NAMED PARKER IS SO RUDE!!!! :girlwerewolf2xn:

Booooooo.

They must have new staff there, I see a lot of names that are unfamiliar to me now! Are the hold times still roughly 45 minutes - 1 hour, or has that decreased at all?

5/21/2016: Mailed I-751 packet to CSC

5/23/2016: NOA1

7/29/2016: Biometrics Appointment

11/22/2016: I-751 Approved!

You can go ahead and report the RUDE agent, the email is on Soloenta's signature. We don't need rude people to add to the stress we all are going thru already in this immigration journey.

Oh yes, the wait time is still the same. Operators are even becoming more short and rude. Not missing much there.

As far as I can *remember* from the DS260, try filling it out to the most accurate estimate time spent in the US. If you're going to be there for two months, put in two months. If it's three months it's three months. They'll be able to tell anyways by your passport stamps, and what's on file. Don't worry about it too much. (They're just checking to make sure you don't overstay your time there ;)

I'll definitely report back. I did the EZ form and left blanks, apart from the "if different from mailing address" question where I just repeated the same address. I answered all of the questions, just didn't put N/A in spaces like retirement info since my husband is employed, ergo not retired.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.
