I got a good news from Amenda, and I really hope she was telling me the true.

She told me they got my files on the June 5th, and I am getting close for the AOS/IV packet review....

That's quite different from what I told by another Rep last week, they scanned my files on the June 20th, and the review is going take 30 biz days from the 20th... :wow:

We will see..... :clock:

Ok odd question but i am curious now, from reading many of your timelines it seems that many have sent the IV package documents in to the NVC before your IV fee was available or paid? Is this possible or am i missing something? and does this make a difference? We are EP filing and on hold waiting for IV fee to be invoiced.

I am one of those and the decision is yet to be determined if it helped or not...I sent the civil docs on 9 June and completed the DS260 today so we will see if sending in the documents paid off for a faster completion date....problem is I am away with no internet for the next 3 weeks starting tomorrow....I will be on pins and needles and will have to find internet somewhere! :secret:

Man, it was so long ago that I originally did my research on translating docs to send to USCIS... I can't even begin to remember where I read it. It could have been a really old requirement, or just a suggestion. I tend to rely a lot on logic (although this process is not at all logical, so that could be my downfall :bonk: ) so this is kind of how I reasoned it out to myself:

My husband's first language is Wolof, and I also speak Wolof. However, the national language of Senegal is French. Let's say we had some sort of traditional wedding in his father's home village (or whatever lol...) and our marriage cert was written in Wolof and all the dates are spelled out in words instead of numbers. If I then go and translate it, what's there to stop me from writing out that we were married 5 years ago instead of 1. I can go straight to IR1 instead of this CR1 nonsense. I highly doubt anyone at USCIS or NVC speaks Wolof and will be able to figure it out.

I guess requiring a third-party, impartial, translator just makes sense to me as another layer of fraud protection. If I were in a high-fraud country, I would definitely think twice about translating my own docs. That being said, that's just my own reasoning, and I'm sure you will be totally fine submitting your own translations. If I ever do find where I originally read that I will be sure to post the source. :)

Edit: just kidding! I just started going through my bookmarks and this is the first one I clicked on:

http://www.***removed***/immigration/document-english-translation.html

I'm thinking that's where I read it. This isn't any sort of official publication and could be really old. But it's on the internet, so it's real right?

It does sound like your information was really different than mine-- I did all the translating of the docs I sent to USCIS and had no issues from that. But it's true that they were all in Spanish, and there are certainly many Spanish speaking employees at USCIS and NVC, while your language is much less common (I had never heard of Wolof, what a cool language name) and so I could see that it could be a easier option for you to commit fraud. However, when I asked the folks at USCIS they were very clear that it was ok for me to do it myself, as long as I included the certification. The person I talked to at NVC said it wouldn't be necessary to send translations at all, so I just sent them in the same way as I did for USCIS, just in case... we'll see what happens.

I also didn't make the visual format match, as the link you provided said. I just tried to match boldface, capitals, new paragraphs, et cetera-- but still ended up with a different number of pages sometimes.

Seems strange that they don't trust you to translate, but do ask that you make sure it's accurate-- if you aren't trustworthy to do one, you shouldn't be to do the other, right? But like you say, it's not logical.

Thanks for sharing the information-- I am just crossing my fingers and hoping that everything is acceptable for NVC and embassy purposes.

Most of us have been waiting well over a year and have a lot longer to go. Expedite is very difficult and has to be a life or death situation they say not really convinced of that.

i have a question in ds260

The question is from the questions of the ds260

Answer me plzzzzzzz

do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. law ?

If i say yes i really dont have this docs

If i say no what will be the explanation

I was confused about this one too. I said yes, as I have shot records of some of the current up to date required shots for my age group and have blood titers test results showing immunity for the other required vaccines. If the doctor at the medical tells me I forgot any, I'll get it taken care of.

That part in NVC Cover Letter about 20 working days for checklist responses? Meaningless... 24 working days since being scanned and my docs have yet to be reviewed - the ####### on the end of the line said to allow at least 6 weeks :ranting:
