that is a great plan! Once I send in my IV packet (this week) I am going to just try and enjoy my life, at least for a week or two, haha.

Mine on June 11th, my IV package on July 7, they told me to call on the second week of August. I am going to try and forget about it for a little while so I won't go crazy.

Sounds like a good idea to me! I may do the same thing! :star: Enjoy the summer while it lasts! :dance:

This is interesting-- when I was preparing my husband's IV packet a few weeks ago I heard a similar rumor floating around (that the translations can't be done by the beneficiary or the petitioner) but no one on this forum responded when I asked for verification, and I couldn't find that any official source said anything about it... so I sent in my own (petitioner) translations-- we will see if anything comes up. Although it was more a case of being on the safe side, officially I did not need translations, as the documents were in the official language of the country where the interview will take place... and I sent a translation of the birth certificate but not the apostille attached to it-- I hope that doesn't annoy anyone. But I was tired of being fearful about every little thing that MIGHT cause a checklist, so I decided to be optimistic that whoever reviews the documents will do their job as they should... If I get any negative feedback on either of those things I will definitely let folks here know... good luck to everyone trying to figure these requirements out.

I checked http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit/documents-to-submit-to-nvc.html and the NVC Wiki and couldn't find any information that the petitioner or beneficiary is not allowed to translate your immigration documents. :wacko:

I'll post this question on one of the Facebook groups that I subscribe to. I'll post more information later on this issue. :star:

My husband just got done talking to someone at NVC. They said our DS-261 was received on June 2nd and it's still under review.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

 

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

 

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

They probably have thousands of others to look at before our one, unfortunately :( I kind of feel for the NVC workers because I work in a similar kind of environment. A lot of times, we have quiet periods, then POW, a hundred files to process in two days, AND I have to check them for compliance. It's not fun x_x

Regarding this matter, what is acceptable to NVC and the respective Consulate are not one and the same at times. Legally, what you said should be fine. However, some Consulates only accept translations from pre-assigned translators, much like pre-assigned physicians for medical exams. They could get away with this restriction being not on US soil.

Starting to fill out the I-864 form and am curious about leaving questions blank. Example...my wife has no middle name.

The form instructions clearly state If an item is not applicable or the answer is “none,” leave the space blank.

I had it ingrained in my brain to either use N/A or none, depending on the question, when filling out the I-130. I believe that i should just follow instructions on this form and leave them blank, but, I don't want to get checklisted. Tell me I'm over-complicating things and I should just leave them blank where applicable.

hello everyone,

My husband forgot to send the copies of all the IV documents. He only sent all the originals. Does anyone know if we r going to get a checklist for not sending photocopies of documents..it"ll really be heart breaking if they send a checklist for photocopies..im sure they can make the copies themselves ??

Just send the copies now don't wait.......................... sorry if someone has already answered. :D And no checklist if you send the copies in.

Aw.... :mellow: I guess that is where the increase of headcount comes in. More employee, more cases will be touched. It seems that the wait time for NVC process kept increasing these days.

Search for and download the "DS-260 Examplar" pdf, study it, and prepare all your answers in sequence. Once all the information are organized at your finger tips, the actual form filling should be fast and error free. Just make sure you save every page before you go to the next. This way, you don't have to repeat data entry after hang-ups or timeouts.
