Just got off the phone.1st wifeys case arrived today :-) 2nd daughters Aos scaned in the sustem July 11th. 3rd the Ds 261 shows in there sustem june 27th . The first date it was completed . I guess no harm was done

Happy Monday. My week started off a bit ordinary when I was driving to work and rock hit my windshield and cracked it. Boo. Then, I got to work and my boss told me that the higher paying job I have been doing for the last 6 months will not be extended because the person I was covering is coming back. No biggie because i will just go back to my normal duties, but slightly less money.

I hope this week brings good luck at NVC for everyone with lots of CCs, interview dates and unlocked invoice fees!

One of the snowboarders found in Victoria was a friend and ex-colleague - Daniel Kerr. He was a wonderful man and far too young to have been taken. Everyone at our work is devastated.

My husband phoned when I was sleeping last night and apparently yes, it is CC!! But they didn't have an interview date for me yet.

Quick question!

I think I know the answer, but I'd like to double check on this.

Anyone can translate a document as long as they include the below sentences at the end of the translated document according to http://www.uscis.gov/forms/forms-and-fees/general-tips-assembling-applications-mailing, correct?

In other words, you don't need to use a service by a certified translator, correct?

Regarding this matter, what is acceptable to NVC and the respective Consulate are not one and the same at times. Legally, what you said should be fine. However, some Consulates only accept translations from pre-assigned translators, much like pre-assigned physicians for medical exams. They could get away with this restriction being not on US soil.

We included our house in Australia as an asset (with a note to say it would be rented in the short term and could easily be sold within 12 months if required) and didn't have any issues with NVC. I sent a lot of documents and covered all bases:

- Rates notice (to confirm property ownership and title deed particulars)

- Real estate agent appraisal

- A copy of the title deed

- A formal valuation report

I sent the appraisal and valuation because I happened to have both, but I think valuations are better as they are significantly more detailed in terms of the individual property rather than the market in general which appraisals tend to cover.

I work in a Bank and we do residential valuations pretty regularly. I would say $440 is a bit steep but depending on the number of valuers in your area that may vary. I would expect to pay $300-350 for a residential val. Shop around a bit if you can - most valuers will match quotes. Opteon and Herron Todd White are pretty reliable.

Oh no msc13, that is terrible. I am so sorry to hear that. My first world problems pale in comparison to losing a friend. Tragedies like that really put things into perspective. I remember when I got my checklist last month it felt like the end of the world….until my mother-in-law had a heart attack the next day (and luckily survived) and it really brought me back down to earth and remember what is really important in life. Checklists seems so unimportant when a real emergency happened.

Sending more hugs your way, you really deserve something good to come your way after the past few days you have had

It is so true Amanda. There I am crying over a Checklist and my husband leaving when there is this beautiful man who has left our world far too early.

Everything will get approved in the end and again at some point in the future the children and I will be entering LAX and then going on to New York but until that time comes I am going to try and put it into perspective and enjoy every day of my life with my children right now.

I also have a question about translations. My husband's Lebanese birth certificate and police report were translated by a sworn translator in Lebanon. My husband has read through the translations and says they are accurate. The problem is that the translator, apart from representing herself as a sworn translator and affixing the appropriate legalization stamps, didn't provide a certification statement. Will this cause problems at the NVC? Could a third party review the translations and say that he/she has reviewed the translations and finds them to be accurate?

My husband forgot to send the copies of all the IV documents. He only sent all the originals. Does anyone know if we r going to get a checklist for not sending photocopies of documents..it"ll really be heart breaking if they send a checklist for photocopies..im sure they can make the copies themselves ??

We sent our IV and I-864EZ on 5/30 with EP, and when I called yesterday the first operator said they never received any emails from me and I got disconnected.

I called back and after another hour of waiting, the second operator said they got the emails but they weren't reviewed yet. She said I should wait another 30 business days for her supervisor to let me know what the next steps are.

I'm a USC, and this whole process started 4/4/13. We just want to be treated fairly. Should I ask all my friends to send emails to their congressmen and women or are there any other words of advice from experts on this forum?

Photocopies are submitted so that you can take your original/certified documents back after visa processing is complete. I don't think this is a checklist-worthy item, but I'd recommend having photocopies on hand for the interview if at all possible so that you can trade them for your real docs.

Unfortunately there's a huge number of people in the same boat. USCIS has caught up with its I-130 backlog and NVC is being flooded with case volumes way above normal, such that many people who suffered long waits at USCIS are now getting the short end of the stick at NVC as well. It's grossly unfair. Call NVC and ask to speak to a supervisor. Find out when your EP emails were "scanned", i.e., registered as received by NVC. That's the date that will matter when it comes to calculating when your documents should be reviewed.

So....if I go over the 30 business days will the nvc do anything??? Also do I count the scanned date in my 30 day calculation??
