Of course, but the first email you get from NVC will have your case number etc. in it... so if they're restricting access to CEAC until that email is issued, maybe they're trying to stop people from tying up phone lines to get their numbers ahead of time?

Ah! I see, I haven't gotten that far. I just received my numbers yesterday. I don't see how that would work though. There is no publication for people to know this, so they are still going to call for their case numbers and then call again because they can't log in.

Official guidance is to sit and wait for communications from NVC, but we know calling is (was?) a shortcut thanks to VJ. Anyone not on this site could be just twiddling thumbs waiting for something to happen. But if NVC is aiming to keep people off the phones you'd think they'd be refusing to issue case numbers verbally too, so yeah, that's probably not the goal. Maybe it's helping them control their case volume -- just another way of throttling progress and constraining how many people are at each step, like the delayed IV fee issuance after submitting the DS-261. It could also be a byproduct of the IT "upgrades" they're making, but whatever the reasoning, this is the worst I've seen NVC. I'm so sorry for everyone waiting :(

I received mine in 12 business days, but cannot log in to do ANYTHING. I called NVC this morning and was optimistic since I did not have to wait on hold, I got right through. The operator caught me off guard, I wasn't ready!! Lol! She then informed me that the reason I can't log in, is because they have not communicated with me through email yet.

This is true for me too! I have had my case number since June 24th and I can't log in either.

Yes I did Baltoro, the lawyer didn't include my husband's 2013 tax transcripts and made a mistake by rounding up the total income on the 1040. Good call on letting them go :)

You're May 29, so you're 1 week ahead of me. All the best to you!

Congratulations!!! So your documents were sent on May 27. Any idea when they were actually s

Yes my IV doc was scanned in May 27.

See I had no idea. I found VJ right off the bat. Hopefully more people will be informed about the foolishness at NVC.

I think you meant the "Invoice' table by summary page? So does it only changes or also on the 'receipt' tab. When I login it by default takes me to receipt tab.

The page that it takes me to after I log in actually says "summary information" on it and that is where it shows the "N/A". If you end up on the receipt page, I don't think the "PAID" with change to "N/A" when you get case complete, at lease mine did not.

The link use to get directly to the summary page upon sign in is https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx

Anyone talk to 'Abby' at NVC? What a mean cuss.

I call to inquire as to whether my AOS / IV have been scanned in (we e-mailed them on 6/6 for EP)

"We received mail on 6/23." "Okay, has it been scanned in?" "I don't have access to that, okay." "Al...alright... So you can't give me a rough estimate?" "No. Is there anything else you need?"

-_-

Yikes.

Anyway, has anyone been told that they "received mail on xxx". Does that mean scanned in and I can expect CC from 30 business days from then?

Thanks.

Hello all, I need advice please.

I’ve just realized that my husband (the petitioner) has filed his 2012 Tax return as single, following the advice of the tax agent.

At 2011 I was still in the USA, so he filed as married jointly, and on 2013, as I was not there the entire year and he has another dependent, he filed as head of household, again following the advice of the tax agent.

So I’m guessing that the tax that he has to amend is the 2012 one. He should file as married separately, right?

On the other hand, once he submits the request of the amendment, should we inform the NVC?

We’ve already sent the AOS package on June 19. Should we wait to hear from them in order to send the copy of the request submitted or we should wait till I get the interview and take the amended tax with me?

I’m a bit confused; I would really appreciate if anyone can help.

Thank you!! Mariana

I'm going to be sending my documents by snail mail instead of EP. Is there something I need to do to let NVC know that, that is my choice? Or as soon as the AOS packet is available should I just send in the documents?

For 2012, he should file as either MFS or MFJ. If he filed previous as MFJ in 2011, then you have an ITIN, so if he wants a higher refund amount, he should file MFJ again in 2012.

If you've already sent your AOS package in, I'd suggest just bringing a copy of the 2012 amended tax form to the interview. Unless you get a checklist for the AOS package. Then send it in with your response, mentioning why in the cover letter.

I'm going to be sending my documents by snail mail instead of EP. Is there something I need to do to let NVC know that, that is my choice? Or as soon as the AOS packet is available should I just send in the documents?

Nope, no need to tell them. They'll know if you're doing EP or not depending on how they receive your documents (by snail mail or email).
