So the tax question... I get why filing the amendment is neccessary and why filing single when you are married is not a good idea, so I filed an ammendment. But here's my question, of all of the forums and posts I have read, I have never read anyone who said it was a problem at their interview or with NVC. I'm so curious... Is that because people don't bother to share their experiences, having their visas rejected because of this? Or have I not read the right threads? It must be a very common problem but the only thing I have read from anyone about it was from a woman who said she filed single the three years she was married while her husband was in Jamaica, and it wasn't a problem and they were granted a visa. I know many people have more experience than me (Saylin! ) So I'm just wondering. I've read "red flag" and its a "HUGE problem", but I wondered if anyone knew of that being a reason that a visa had been rejected?

Thanks guys. I've been wondering this and so often when I'm wondering something, someone else asks the question and the knowledgable VJ team comes to the rescue! So I thought if I'm wondering, others may be too...

I was surprised this time when I called NVC. I got thru in the 4th try (around 2.15 pm CT) and was on hold for only 16 minutes. To me that was very unusual as I have waited as much as 70 minutes at times.

Does this mean NVC is getting better? Although I do want to mention that she asked me to wait "30 business days"

No they're just lulling you into a false state of security before they drop the bomb on us. :D Can you say PARANOID? :pop:

Did she actually call you a B or you sensed it when she hung up? If she did the e-mail to complain is at the top of my posts. :D

Please feel free to use it since it helps everyone else when we call. (F) (L) (F)

Still no IV invoice. I sent an email to NVC's inquiry address yesterday just to feel like I was doing something.... I really don't want to wait 45 minutes on the phone to be told "30 days, b*tch" and hung up on.

I think she was kidding about the B-word! LOL!

If NVC agents were using the B-word, I'd be the first one to be called for sure.

NVC would never have an issue with filing status as I mentioned before. They could care less. So, it's only at the interview where it would be a problem.

I don't think I've personally seen someone get the visa denied or put in AP over it, but I would NEVER chance it, especially in high fraud countries. Besides the whole immigration thing though, if you file as single when married, you're lying to the IRS and can cause problems later on with them.

just got a checklist goes like this:

"We received your Immigrant Visa Application; however, we have not received an Affidavit of Support

form. You must submit an Affidavit of Support form before we can complete your case"
I have submitted both packages the same day and both got scanned 2nd of July
Is it a fake check list?

If not mistaken this is good news and yes a false check list, please someone correct me if I'm wrong. :)(F) (L) (F) But you should just no matter what.

I finally heard from NVC regarding my case. I received a document check list. We had to make some corrections on my wife's I864 form. We entered her gross income wrong forgetting that the foreign income exclusion makes it zero. They also asked us to send a copy of her North Carolina birth certificate and a recent pay stub from her employer here in Canada. Not sure why they want a pay stub from her job here in Canada when it won't count anyways. Anyways, we've got it all done and ready to go. Going to drop it off at the post office tonight.

Checklist!? Oh, No! I couldn't tell from your timeline, but if you're still waiting for the IV fee invoice, it won't delay your timeline. You can send the requested documents with your IV package.

Did you mention that her employment in Canada was continuing after moving to the US (transferring to a US office or working from home)? If not, it doesn't make sense that NVC wants to see her pay stubs. However, it's better and quicker to supply the requested documents rather than arguing with them at this point.

When do you guys recommend requesting a transcript after sending in an amendment for my taxes? I sent the amendment June 17.

If it's anything like original taxes, you can't get the transcript until the IRS reviews and accepts it.

Besides, from what I've heard here, the tax transcripts don't change after an amendment.

Congratulations to all of the case completes and interviews listed above (and any I might have missed!!!) :dancing:

I have received both a real checklist (AOS) and a false checklist (IV) and both were received on the day of the date of the letter (I don't think they delay sending them out). I can't be sure if everyone receives a false checklist, but I did in my case when they approved my IV docs. I think you will either hear something very soon, or maybe "no news is good news". When/if you get an email with the words "checklist" in the subject line, just take a deep breath, sit down and read carefully. As long as it doesn't ask for anything specific, it will be a false checklist.

As for calling from Australia, I just used Skype. It is VERY cheap from Australia and only costs me a couple of dollars even when I am on hold for 45 minutes. I just added some money to my Skype account and you can see how much you have left as you call.

Hope they get to your file ASAP!!!

Thank you, yours is coming.....good luck

It's been one year today since we got the NOA1. :cry:It's been a hard day for the me and my husband. When we started this process we thought we'd be together a year later. Most cases were only about 10 months start to finish at that time. I know we are close now but I have to say, the closer to the end the harder it is becoming to find anymore patience. Some days I feel like this might actually drive me crazy!! I've checked ceac website all day hoping for a miracle, hoping my AOS would turn N/A. I knew it was a stretch since the IV was scanned on the 16th of June, But a girl can dream! ;)

I'm holding out hope for a CC in a week or two.

Congrats to all the CC's today and all the Interview dates!!! I'm so excited for you all. Also good luck to all of you who are waiting for your CC and other steps at NVC. I hope we all get the good news we've been waiting so patiently for, soon.

So what's the conclusion?

In my previous comment I stated you can't take the exemption, but you file MFS.

5/21/2016: Mailed I-751 packet to CSC

5/23/2016: NOA1

7/29/2016: Biometrics Appointment

11/22/2016: I-751 Approved!
