CREDIT CHECKS FROM U.K.

Ok what I would like to know is if you had a bad credit history in the U.K.(or any country for that matter)does it come into play when applying for credit here?only reason I ask is that I have excellent credit history from U.K. but from what Ive seen on here it dosnt stand for anything when you go to open bank/credit lines,so I was thinking that you could get the same credit line if you where a defaulter or a top credit person,which is sort of dumb

well, all i know your credit in your country of origin means dip here, its soo frustrating at times. I also have top shape credit at home, and here i get treated like someone who has bad debit!!! cant handle the rejection but learnt to overcome it! I also learnt that if you had a credit card with american express and it was good- its classed as good credit here!!! i never used mine at home(oz) so still doesnt mean dip here. My husband has got me as additional card holder on his credit card which we are using to purchase anything and everything we can and pay it off! plus co signed on my car.. so the creditors will be soon throwing money at me... bwwwwahhh hahah

I don't believe your credit (bad or good) in the UK matters here. What really sucks is that they see you as having 'no' credit (which is often times worse than bad credit, dumb as that is!). If there's any way your wife can get a loan, etc. and put you on it so that you start getting the benefit of that credit, too, then that's probably the fastest way to go.

My ex husband had no credit history and didn't start building any up until we bought a truck. The loan was done based on my credit but he was listed on the loan, too. Since it was paid in full and on time, he's managed to have decent credit now!
