I know I have seen it somewhere on the forum a while back but i cannot remember on what post i had read about it. I checked the example forms on this forum but part 4 is left blank, so it is not helping.

What did people who got their AP approved put for part 4 (reason for requesting AP)?

on the instruction guide from USCIS' website, it says that vacation is not a valid reason to request AP.

Also, it also asks to provide a separate sheet of paper explaining the reason why you're requesting it. Is this really necessary?

When filed with an I-485 you don't need to fill that section out, if you read the instructions it says as much but I'm too lazy to look up where and what it says.

read the instructions again thinking I didn't see it, but I don't see it saying that...

You don't need to give a reason if you're applying for AOS.

5/2/14 - Marriage to USC (Australian citizen on E-3 visa)

6/20/14 (Day 0): AOS package received at Chicago Lockbox
6/24/14 (Day 4): Text notification of receipt (I-130, I-131 and I-765 "Initial Review", I-485 "Accepted")
6/30/14 (Day 10): Received NOAs and biometrics notice for 7/24
7/7/14 (Day 17): Walk-in biometrics at Pittsburgh ASC
7/30/14 (Day 40): Email update: I-485 has moved to "Testing and Interview" stage

8/20/13 (Day 61): Text notification: I-131 and I-765 approved, "Card Production" status

8/28/14 (Day 69): Text notification: EAD/AP card mailed

8/29/14 (Day 70): EAD/AP card received

9/10/14 (Day 82): Text msg of case update - interview date notice mailed

If anyone could highlight the section where it says an explanation is not needed when filing with an I-485, I'd appreciate it. I couldn't find anything that clearly states that, so I did include an explanation. But, I'm new and am still in the middle of my AOS journey, so don't necessarily do as I did. But, I see people frequently stating this so I'd love to know clearly where this comes from.

Instructions page 8. You need 2 OR 3.

For people in this forum, it is 3. Since it is a concurrent application, sending the application all together will suffice.
