I'm not sure what happened there but one of your first choices was to just organize courier service... it seems you chose something else as you shouldn't have reached any pages dealing with appointments. I don't know what to tell you! :(

I went back and cancelled the appointment , I made a mistake. I went back and did it correctly this time. Thanks for your answer. How long after your interview you got your passport back?

Never mind, I read it in your signature.

This here everyone is the most important piece of tracking casefiles to embassy. This is the actually date NVC puts in that your case-file left. Than the other dates s the range. Usually its best to not put country of origin. Just leave blank get everywhere.

Shippers Reference: EXP 10 JUL 2014A

You have to play with the days sometime. My "packet" was EXP 13 JUN 2014A, with my status changing to "In Transit" late on the 13th. But it didn't actually leave NVC until the 16th of June. Like someone else has said, it appears that many cases are assigned "shipment" dates on a Friday - but they don't actually leave or get picked up by DHL until a later date. That's why you need to put a date range in. I would suggest at least 3 days prior to your "date" and 3 days afterwards. I actually NEEDED to put my country (Australia) in, as there were so many packets sent out on my dates that they didn't all show up - and I couldn't figure out how to scroll through multiple pages.

I have a question about the immigrant fee, do you need to bring proof that you paid it to the POE? I printed out a page, but it doesn't really look official.

LucyBelle, I don't think we need it, but I printed out ours and Julie will carry it anyway. And you are correct - it doesn't look very official - but it does have some important numbers on it to prove you've paid it!

Remember to gently remind your officer about the SSN number tickmark!

Hello everyone,

My wife has her interview scheduled for 12th of August at the London Embassy. Yay!

What happens after the interview? Do they take her passport? If so how long before she gets it back?

We are a little worried as we are planning a trip away to visit her family on the 26th of August and she will need her passport then.

Kind regards,

Thanks! That's what I thought but the guy at the embassy said we had to pay before entering the USA. I trust VJ more than him!

It is the combination of the $165 payment, and your immigration at POE that triggers the physical Green Card being printed. Most of us want that little card! So pay before POE, or as quickly as possible after POE so your Green Card generation gets into the system!

You can (and should) register at the US Traveldocs website even before CC. You will create a Log In, select a password, and create a profile. Then you have to wait till you get the interview letter to schedule the fingerprinting appointment at a OFC.

When the OFC appointment is complete, do they give the applicant any packet/documents to bring to the embassy?

Quick question...at so mumbai embassy passports are NEVER couriered to the applicant after the visa , they can only be scheduled to be picked up at a location? Coz while scheduling an appointment it only gives us an option of pick up. Because he does not stay in Mumbai so he will either have to pick it up at a location near his town or Mumbai. Can some one explain this procedure to me...can he wait a day and pick it up from Mumbai?

When the OFC appointment is complete, do they give the applicant any packet/documents to bring to the embassy?

They will stamp the DS 260 along with the date of the biometrics.

They will also have a barcoded sticker stamped on backside of the passport which will be checked on the date of interview.

YAY!!

On ours, some if the lines made no sense. Like on the Passport line. It is marked with the letter that states it was sent to the consulate, (Y), But we never submitted any passport. Just a copy of the biometrics page. And two of the letters have the same meaning, (D & Y), the NVC SENT THIS FORM OR DOCUMENT TO THE EMBASSY OR CONSULATE . And we have a D and Y.

So, to cut any confusion or mistakes, everything is going to be taken to the interview.

Well of course it says that the passport information was received and forwarded, as you provided that in your IV package. No one ever is required to send in the actual passport during the process, so they are referring to the photocopy.

:)

I have a question about the immigrant fee, do you need to bring proof that you paid it to the POE? I printed out a page, but it doesn't really look official.

I don't believe proof is required, but I also printed out the Submission Confirmation page.

The information I received at the consulate stated completing the fee payment was required prior to entry to the US, and I quote:

'You must pay before you travel to the United States. You will not receive your Green Card until you have paid the USCIS Immigrant Fee.'

Oh and in response to someone else's query, it also states:

'You must pay.... after you receive your Immigrant visa package from the DOS and before you depart for the US'

I experienced what Sukie described as well. I had to include the country of origin otherwise my page had no Canada listings and I couldn't figure out how to go to a 'next page' anywhere.

A-HA!!Now, it makes sense!!! Thank you LAKEHOUSE!! :D

For this whole process, I am not sure how we did not get checklisted. Whenever I look at all the papers and the forms, my whole thought process gets clouded and I go blank. I tend to over think parts of it, too. For the AOS, I was so paranoid that something was left blank that should have the 'NA' in it that i convinced one of the reps to walk through my whole form before I could send it in. When he first answered the call and I told him I had questions about the 864, he was like, oh hey, that is my specialty (u could hear the smile) and I am the top guy here for that. He made sure to tell me that he cannot tell me what should be marked for my situation. So i asked all my questions, like this: So, if this is the situation, what should someone check?? Lol. But on some of them, he would say I could not provide that information. For other things, I just asked, can this number be left blank if it does not apply and we will not get checklisted? And bc my new job is hourly, my employer letter did not have an annual salary. I read it to him and he said it was perfectly acceptable. :D. Toward the end of the call, he was starting to get annoyed. But hey, he is paid to service us. So, why not! I was still scared we would get checklisted though. But PRAISE GOD, we did not.

Just thought I would share that info with you all, as I saw many times ppl asking questions that the nvc answered for me. So, if you get panicky, like I do, try giving them a call. I looked through my nvc call log notes, but I must have been so stressed out that night, that I never jotted down his name. I am sorrry.
