okay so serious question about us before interview..

We filed tax return as Married Filling joint without my wife SSN or ITIN number.

we didn't file ITIN number coz it was too late for us now.. And IRS already accepted Tax return.

So if they ask question about my AOS what should my wife tell them at Interview?

Question might be like this,

" why you don't have ITIN number in your join tax return?"

OR

How you file Join Tax return without ITIN number ?

Answer either of those truthfully...

1. We did not know about the ITIN, and just filed the return, and the IRS accepted it!

2. We did not know about the ITIN, and just filed the return, and the IRS accepted it!

I don't think you'll get that question, but have her get very big innocent eyes and shake her head!

Is the below message the thing you are supposed to print out and show to CBP at your POE? I'm a little confused about what to show that proves the $165 Immigrant Fee has been paid.....

Your payment has been submitted to Pay.gov and the details are below. If you have any questions or you wish to cancel this payment, please contact National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Application Name: Integrated Operating Environment Pay.gov Tracking ID: 25GG39BP Agency Tracking ID: 1217929102434624A3 Transaction Type: Sale Transaction Date: Jul 2, 2014 8:13:38 PM

Account Holder Name: Sukie

Transaction Amount: $165.00

Billing Address: 750 Any Street

City: Ancram

State/Province: YY

Zip/Postal Code: 99999

Country: USA

Card Type: AmericanExpress

Card Number: ************9999

THIS IS AN AUTOMATED MESSAGE. PLEASE DO NOT REPLY.

I would keep that piece of paper on me at POE (it is proof enough), but I thought paying this fee is not mandatory prior to POE. Don't forget to mention politely that you elected to get a Social Security Card while the officer is clicking away at his/her monitor.

21-MAR-2014 I-140 + PP sent to USCIS

31-MAR-2014 Petition approved

16-APR-2014 Case shipped to NVC

29-APR-2014 Case received by NVC

23-MAY-2014 Case # assigned

4-JUN-2014 IV Bill invoiced and PAID (AOS Exempt, DS-261 Waived)

6-JUN-2014 DS-260 forms submitted

10-JUN-2014 IV Docs received by NVC

13-JUN-2014 IV Docs matched to case (scanned)

30-JUL-2014 Case Complete, CC email auto-sent one week later

20-AUG-2014 AOS fee changed to N/A (Final clearance for interview scheduling?)

29-AUG-2014 Consular Interview scheduled on Oct 1st. Later rescheduled to Sep 24th. P4 Letter received following business day

14-SEP-2014 CEAC status changed to Ready

15-SEP-2014 Medical results delivered to Embassy by Panel Physician

24-SEP-2014 Consular Interview, went into AP (3rd AP in as many consecutive visa applications)

14-OCT-2014 Visa issued

22-OCT-2014 POE at Dulles Airport, Washington, D.C.

MoBar65 - it is not mandatory to have paid the immigrant fee by the time you arrive at the POE. However, your physical Green Card will NOT be generated until the fee is received (and you have entered the US). Most people I know want to have that little card in their hot little hands rather than rely on the stamp in the passport, and they want it as soon as possible!

Then while politely reminding the officer about the Social Security Number, one can also whip out the immigrant fee receipt to prove that the physical Green Card process can start!

So my wife is currently at the interview. In fact if i'm lucky by now she may have passed or is readily waiting for her turn.
I feel calm, I guess because I really can't do anything any more than to just wait for the hopefully good news. But still definitely won't go to sleep until she writes to me :P
Hopefully I can update with good news in an hour or so :P

Always double check your documents and forms. Not only do you get delayed by RFEs and Checklists, but the time it takes for them to review the new items you send could be used to approve more applications. Save yourself and others valuable time!

Current Status: NVC:
-Assigned and Received NVC Case Number, IIN, and BIN April 18, 2014. (100% sure case # was assigned today because I called twice and it wasn't assigned in the morning when they opened but in the afternoon it was)
*Could not provide email then as case was still being updated in their system
-On April 21, 2014 I was able to provide my email and beneficiary's.
-On April 28 I was able to fill out DS-261
-On April 29 I received and paid AOS Fee (at 1pm)
-On May 1 I received and paid IV Fee (at 1pm [became available]), also AOS Fee shows as PAID
-On May 5 IV Fee shows as PAID and DS-260 became available and was completed. Also, AOS Package Scanned by NVC

-On May 7 IV Package Scanned by NVC

-On May 28 AOS Accepted

-On June 2 IV Accepted/Case Complete

-On June 11 Interview Email Received

-On July 3 Interview at Moscow

Note: Medical Exam scheduled after interview letter received by calling the specific clinic, earliest appointment was 2 weeks ahead)

-Visa approved, came to us, got greencard, sadly things didnt go well and divorced. Last I hears she was still in the US and got a full greencard (I notified USCIS of divorce though)

You should distinguish between American Express and Federal Express or they'll take the visa back from you!!!! (Please ignore if there is an actual courier service in Pakistan called American Express)

Really happy for your smooth interview, considering your messed up neighborhood.

VISA APPROVED!!!

She just msgd me and I called her, she said interview was like 5 min long and they didnt see anything of extra evidence. I'll write visa review after I get full details. They did check the original documents since we didnt send originals of marriage certificate and birht certificate (russia only needs copy as long as u take original to interview since you cant get more than 1 original copy...russians :P )
