Woo-hoo! Just got this email!!!

Consulate General of the United States

LEVEL 10 MLC CENTRE 19-29 MARTIN PLACE SYDNEY NSW 2000

http://canberra.usembassy.gov

Dear Visa applicant,

We are pleased to advise that your visa has been issued today.

If you provided our office with an envelope for delivery, you may trace the delivery process of your visa package through the Australia Post website using the tracking number of your envelope.

If you created a profile through ustraveldocs for delivery, your issued visa will be delivered to the nominated address in the profile you created via the website at USTRAVELDOCS. You may trace the delivery process through this site.

Upon receipt of your passport which will contain your immigrant or K visa, please ensure that all information printed on the visa foil is correct. Use the diagram at U.S. Embassy Canberra as a guide. If any of the information on your visa does not match the information in your passport or is incorrect, please reply to this email immediately advising us of the error(s). The sealed yellow envelope contains your documentation, DO NOT OPEN this envelope. Please ensure that you travel with this envelope in your carry-on luggage as this must be presented with your passport on arrival to the U.S.

You should never pay for travel arrangements (e.g., airfare, hotels) without having a visa in your possession. The U.S. Consulate General accepts no responsibility if you do so. You risk significant financial losses if you ignore this advice.

Total congratulations to you and your spouse. Wonderful, ain't it? :D

I had my interview today in the Paris Embassy (I am IR-5, with my daughter being the petitioner). My wife's appointment is not until Aug 7.

Here are the highlights, but I should really say the lowlights:

1. I inquired about my wide's case and a possible expedite to move her interview earlier. My wife's case shows "ready" on the CEAC web site, so I thought they had received the package from NVC (I traced through DHL one package which left NVC the day the interview was set and arrived a few dayes later). However, the lady told me that it meant the "electronic" package, not the "physical" one which NVC only sends a couple of week before the interview date. Does anyone know if this is correct?

2. After going through the normal steps (ID check, payment checks, and all paperwork validated), I was ready to conclude with the consulate officer short interview. But.... their computer system was not working and she could not access my DS260 online. She said that this happened before and that it's "Washington" playing with/upgrading the system. Bottom line: I could not complete the interview, I had to cancel my flight home tonight, stay overnight in Paris, in hope that their system will be working tomorrow.

You have to call NVC and ask when they sent your file out. With this info, you can then use DHL to trace that package. Rarely does NVC send casefiles out the day they schedule the interview.

Having said that, some embassies take time to "process" physical case files after receiving them especially if the interview date is coming up yet. It might sit in their receiving warehouse/loading dock for a while before they make it available for the embassy personnel.
