Hi

I am a US citizen, My wife has become a US citizen through being married to me, We both live and work in the US

My wife's Mother in in her early 50s is in kidney failure and requires dialysis, we would like to bring her to the US from Thailand so that we could take care of her

Is it possible? Would some one with such medical condition be approved to immigrate to the US?

Thank you

Yes, her medical condition proves no threat to others so it won't be a denial reason for the visa. However, dyalisis is very expensive in the USA and the mother-in-law won't be able to get medicaid for several years, so most likely you will be required to show, at the visa interview, that you can cover her medical expenses/ insurance.

Ir does not matter how your wife acquired her citizenship, just that she is one.

You have a year or so to sort out the medical side, judging from current processing times.

She would have to have Insurance, a requirement of Obamacare and sounds that the only likely source of that Insurance would be through the Exchange. You can go on to your local exchange site and get an idea of costs, coverage, deductibles etc.

Getti g insurance is going to be difficult and expensive.... My mother has ESRD and is on dialysis... Prior to ACA (Obamacare) she had no insurance options... Just basic Medicare, she is much older than your MIL, but we were looking at $3000 a month with $25 per dialysis deductible... Look into the insurance options before you get too far in the process or get anyone's hopes up.
