Is there anywhere I can read up on how the whole tax system works in America, like easy to understand... Or can anyone explain it to me like I'm a 12-year old?

In have NO idea how anything like that works around here. Like How do I pay my taxes when I work? when do I pay them? and how does the tax return work? what's a w-2?, what's a form 1099 schedule? What's a dependent, who can be a dependent? What does it mean when you claim a dependent?

So confused...

And how do you make sure you have a pension, and get money, when you get old and can't work anymore?

:help:

Anything else you think I need to know as a confused immigrant?!

You can try by starting with IRS Publication 17 but if you need it written as if you were 12 then you are probably in trouble... :)

No offense here either but there is a book titled "Taxes for Dummies" available in bookstores as well.

295 pages! yikes!

Welcome to the world of the IRS....

Other than Social Security (which is our miserable governmental pension system), if you want to have retirement funds available after you are done working you need to provide for yourself or via assistance from your employer.
