I not know if she knows about it. My Christian Chinese Krewe have explained about it to her, how is very sharp dagger. If I heard it , in an if/then/else construct, it would not hurt so much, these 4 months. 4 months of daily, almost daily use.

It has affected me much. I was lucky that I made it through spring term final exams, and summer I final exams without cutting my gut wide open. an hour of gardening each day is useful. or meditation. or tantric massage [you pick yer poison, aye?]

you should lease one.

bonus points for getting the yellow version... [that is not a pun, but you can use it as such, if you get the car]

we are fighting menopause, tooth and nail, together. Striving to get pregnant, many things going on.

Lemme think? Job before? was a manager at a big hotel for years, then she went to work with her brothers selling insurance, sold the company to AIG China about a year before I met her. Then after we marry, she not do anything for real work - she had some financial interests in organic farms outside of town, and handled marketing for that....

She goes with me to market days to the farmers market, and has been talking with all of the Chinese herbalists here in town, to set up crops that I grow, so she has been keeping busy.

a 9 to 5 job? no.... we are both semi-retired and don't do that.

a follow up.

she's actually very sharp with real estate, but has been coming along to learn about distressed properties in the USA. I bought a portfolio of distressed properties plus a warehouse in Detroit - we have gone up there to do stuff with fixing. She instantly plugged in to the Chinese Community there and got 11 of the 12 houses rented out over 2 weeks and sees some nice income from that portfolio. Couldn't do this in Houston, there's not that many distressed properties to be had.

But she learned something about it, and has been digging in Houston area about distressed properties, how to do, where to go. She's at a point now where she is fine with doing the dogs work on the research, then coming to me for further refinements . This took some time for her to get up to speed.

We really not want any 12 hour/day, 6 day/week job like so many recent Chinese immigrants here in Houston. The first trip to Detroit opened her eyes much, she finally understands my reclamation hobbies have a nice dollar return on them. Once she got into it, she swore off that @#$@ 12 hour day/stuff. We're both too old to have that stamina anymore, preferring the stamina for tantric massage (yes, please, and thank you).

It's not that she wanted a job here - she wanted to do some business, thinking to set up import/export/trading company with chums back in China. I not want to do that, as the sales and marketing cycle turns into a 12/hour/day job too easily. Sure, might shift a container or two per quarter, but not into Houston - it's too cut-throat with the Fooks and Taiwanese folk already in that market space. Might make her friends happy, but who wants 2 percent margins on anything? Not me, and certainly not her. H3ll, the guanxi fees alone would be at 5 percent - I simply not want to play in Houston with that stuff.

OTOH, Chinese herbalists with a steady supply of Houston-grown herbs - she's all excited about that, and very happy with that line of business. She not care where they are from - all of them speak mandarin and she knows how not to get shafted by the ethnic groups here..

when she uses it, she has really good skills.

I have an insight for you. From relationship fora.

When one person is checking out of the marriage emotionally, sending mixed signals, putting the other person through the terror of uncertainty... they recommend doing what is called the 180. What often happens in these situations is that the conscientious spouse makes it too easy on the waffling spouse. The conscientious person facilitates the indecisiveness by going out of their way for the waffler.

The 180 is where you turn all of that off and say, ok - I see that you've checked out here. So what I am going to do is go about my personal self-improvement program here and stop depending on you. It is a mistake to think of this as a way to manipulate the spouse into staying with you. What you are doing is training for single life.

It isn't just applied to affairs - it could be a sexless marriage or just a spouse that is abusive emotionally. The point is they aren't meeting your needs - reasonable needs too - as a married partner. A lot of people will tell their spouse over and over again that their needs aren't being met, but since there's never been any credible enforcement of boundaries or deal-breakers, the behavior just continues.

Another approach though is the ultimatum, or in conjunction with the above. It has to be something you actually mean business on. And really, this is just straightforward honest communication: do this for me, or this is not a marriage I can continue with. They need to be concrete verb action items. Like in sexless marriage: sex!

A recognized complication is things like bipolar, hormone deficiencies, depression, and other neurological/chemical imbalances. But treatment is something they have to be actively working on as a marriage condition if that is the case.
