he does not feel like any of it is his concern...he is married and that means he gets to be babied and does not need to be part of any major decisions or be involved....and he still does not understand that this is not how marriage should work and still pouts and looks at me badly because I am leaving him as if I am doing this all to hurt him, he is the one in pain, nobody else. A man if told that i am getting a private judge just to suit his needs since i know how he is would say...hey you know what ? "let me pay for that since that is my issue not yours"

instead he posts on stupid dumb facebook (are we 13 ?) "excuse me if i dont thank you for something i did not ask you to do" sure you did not but you also would not show up at court and nobody is expecting a thank you anyways. GOD !

I've been there, my ex tried telling me I had a drinking problem. Yes my problem was that I didn't drink and told him he needed to quit. I'm happy you didn't try to work on the marriage for 15yrs like I did before I realized he wasn't going to bother. Heck he even thought if he didn't sign anything I couldn't get the divorce, even after I had the divorce decree he thought he could still fight it. Between his drunken days and games at night he never bothered to go see an attorney.

J - not need lawyer for filing. The forms are dead easy, you can file a petition for divorce, prep the petition for divorce yerself. The lawyer will use a template in MS-Word - why can't you do the same? Lawyers never are fast for doing initial filings.

Just saying.

I thought you were going in with your template, then have the lawyer review it, then walk out of there with a file-able divorce petition, then file it with the court. Once you file a petition, then you get on the calendar at the court, their docket, to see a judge.

This other stuff you've mentioned sounds like an evolution in time wasting.

I would have done that but apparently I had all kinds of forms that were not needed so they were thrown out. I gave him the two affidavits that were actually needed but the thing is with a lawyer the hubs won't try to do me as much harm. When I say i have a lawyer he will sign papers. If i do it alone he won't sign them since he does not care what I do but he very much cares what other people think of him plus he won't go to court to see a judge so the judge has to come to the office of the lawyer and get stuff sorted from them and i think that will still be an issue. He will need to take a day off and I can guarantee that he will tell me he forgot and that he cannot go...it will be a fight and it is much easier if i can call my lawyer and tell him.."hey my husband is here but he is refusing to cooperate" and put lawyer on speaker. Hubs is like a child and like a child he needs to be dealt with. He pouts and needs authority to tell him to stop pouting and do what he needs to do or else....

Oh look, how spoiled....

Would you like truffles with that? Served on a silver platter in your room?

No to both, but thanks for asking! May I have my coffee now please? *award winning grin* lol.

re: divorce - bah - it will be his mother and him taking off from work that day, he needs a driver. so, it doesn't matter if he forgets about it - his mother will not. She will drag his @ss out of the house on that day.

his mother does not know and she won't know until stuff is final. I am taking him in a cab. Me and her are not doing so well I don't want her involved at all.

Can a lawyer appear in lieu of you in Ohio?

Personally, I would have started the job and taken a couple of vacation days to deal with this stuff. Personal opinion of course.

Husband is getting called into a job interview at a big hardware store with hopefully hours that will work around his school. This would be good for us because we wouldn't be spending out of savings quite as much.

no. for dissolution him and me have to be there in person else it becomes a divorce and takes more time and money. I cannot take a couple of days of vacation 2 weeks into my work. So it will need to be a day...flight in and flight out.
