Africans practiced slavery long before there WAS an America. And America has abolished slavery, something which still goes on in Africa today. So why is it that a lot of folks want to talk about how the white folks in America kept black slaves to this day?

In fact, if memory serves correctly, muslims were primary runners & owners of slaves throughout history.

IDK, just seems kinda hypocritical how much focus is put on the slaves in America, and how bad white folks were for owning them. But I haven't heard too many condemning Africa for doing the same thing to the British, Irish, and Americans.

Perhaps, if you bothered to research the reasons for and the consequences of all the actions of master/slave relationships in history you wouldn't make such remarks. It's simply not true that the White American is the only slave owner that is decried for his actions. Can you for example find South Africa on the map at all?

As to the actual subject of the thread, that manager was a bully, a nasty bully if he really did what is being indicated. No matter what the subject of his chosen humiliation was, he was deliberately humiliating someone in his crew and that is not acceptable managerial behaviour. Anyone that thinks that it is is quite clearly wrong.

Why? Neither gay or lib is derogatory per se. If the same perjorative suffix is added to each word, the terms should be found equally offensive.

I imagine one is censored due to the fact that it has been used excessively as a negative descriptor in this forum (thus has been added to the censor) and the other has never been seen or used until this topic title.

I had a post last night that was tame, but I ended with a joke about Marvin going into the bathroom and something about beef (a twist on words by NB). Whole darn post got yanked as being offensive.

Really. i have to believe that between the four or five of us that goof off a lot and poke fun, none of us ever took anything offensively.

So, we should discuss slavery in a country that no black American can relate to, rather than talk about what happened here in our own country? Maybe it's because white folks were/are in charge when it was going down?

So did Christians and other religions. No one is exempt. Even Native Americans did it. So I'm not sure what your point is.

The focus is because we're here in America. If we were in another country, we'd be talking about it over there. I don't condone it anywhere for ANY reason.

I think you missed what I was saying. Perhaps if you hadn't tried so hard for so long to turn liberal into a perjorative term, the word would not be censored. Obviously the LT term was making it past the censor at one point because you used to use that word on a daily basis.

We could make up any number of derogatory terms which have never been used before and at some point, with repeated use, I expect those terms would be censored as well, and then you couldn't use them in the title.

But in general, using the term in the title to describe it's use in the article is not the same as using the term as a personal insult or derogatory manner.

Well it's not automatically censored, at least not the way you spelled it there. If the term is not automatically censored, there's always the possibility that someone reports it for being offensive. Then it's often more subjective, and thats when it's sometimes harder to see the consistency and to understand the reasoning.
