I just called 3 of the civil surgeon in our area. One of them told me it will cost $200 to get medical exam, one is about $125 plus the shots cost. They dont have insurance coverage either. I am on my husband's medical insurance but dont know how it works though. Why the price is so high?? We only have 3 civil surgeons around here and can we go somewhere else? like other states? We live in Fort Wayne IN area but its still kinda far to drive to Indianapolis. (just get medical exam) I am wondering if we can go to a doctor in Michigan or Ohio?

We live in the middle of the woods and dont really have much choices! :(

You can go to one anywhere really, but good luck in finding one cheaper. In FL my husband is paying 95.00 for the base exam then all the shots and it's still going to be over 200 (and this is one of the lower numbers I have heard). They're all probably going to charge similar prices, especially in the same area. Also, I don't think they take insurance - my husband has medical (long story) but there's been no mention of insurance covering it so I wouldn't be surprised if you still have to pay the full price.

My Husband had his medical which was only the shots supplement portion and was charged 25 dollars plus 25 dollars for the flu shot at a local clinic --- the Dr. was really good and we did shop around though --- there were quite a few in Washington ---

It'll probably be hard to find one less than $125.00. You can see if there is some sort of public health where you can get shots for free.

Your insurance might pay for the shots. I had mine done at a clinic and they billed it to Blue Cross and so far they have not rejected my claim.

Ooh. I'm familiar with the insurance industry and it didn't seem likely it would be covered - I'll have to tell my husband to ask if they take insurance when he goes Tuesday. The info we have makes it seem like it's a flat fee, no insurance excepted but it doesn't hurt to ask. Thanks!

$125.00 is a good price... try looking for a local community health clinic and contact them about the shots.... they will be cheaper if not free... I only had to pay $15.00 for all my shots (6 in total) as I had no record of the shots I had had in the past... they then gave me a list of what I had and I took that to the cival surgeon and he added it to the medical report... dont forget to ask for a copy of the full report for your records... the one for USCIS will be in a sealed envelope...
