Longer term you might consider a nexus pass...it will help with us border crossings and can get you in the fast lanes for security within the us and Canada as well

The content available on a site dedicated to bringing folks to America should not be promoting racial discord, euro-supremacy, discrimination based on religion , exclusion of groups from immigration based on where they were born, disenfranchisement of voters rights based on how they might vote.

pearson is nice. I have been to USA to visit my wife 4 times since the wedding, and countless times before. They are professional, they do ask more questions when you tell them you are visiting your wife but answer honestly and no issues arise.

I'm not likely to cross the border again until I have my approval, tbh. Our next planned visit, she's coming to see me and then hopefully the next trip after that, it'll be for me to move!

I've always found the people in Pearson to be really nice. They usually ask a few questions, but I've never been interrogated. The agents in Edmonton have been a tad tougher. But actually I find getting into the US a breeze.. coming back to Canada is usually the more unpleasant experience. Which is ridiculous, since I'm the Canadian citizen... !!!!

IR1/CR1 Visa - We are using a lawyer!

Embassy: Montreal, Canada

USCIS

22 Jan 2013 -- packageSent
31 Jan 2013 -- NOA1 from NBC

6 Mar 2013 -- I130 transferred to Orlando local field office (which started the whole nightmare)

Mar 2013 to October 2013 no one would tell us where our case was or what was happening. I suspected the whole time it was just sitting in a corner somewhere in the Orlando field office. I was pretty much right.

October 2013 - get congressman involved. Congressman asks USCIS repeatedly about our case but they won't even tell them anything.

31 Jan 2014- finally get NOA2!!!! (we think the nightmare is over!)

NVC

Our case was not sent from the Orlando field office as it should have been. The nightmare continues. We kept calling NVC and asking if they received our case, and they always said "NO" and that we had to wait 90 business days for it to be received. We called USCIS during this time and they kept telling us it had been sent. After the 90 days of agonizing frustration, NVC then started telling us we had to wait 120 business days. I got our congressman involved again, and they told the congressman it was sitting at the Orlando office this whole time (just as I thought it was!).

22 Apr 2014 -- NVC received
16 May 2014 -- NVC case number assigned
24 May 2014 -- AoS and IV bills paid

28 May 2014 -- Sent AoS and IV Packages

6 June 2014 -- documents scanned

18 July 2014 -- false checklist from NVC

21 July 2014 -- Case complete

28 July 2014 -- receive case complete email from NV

30 July 2014 -- interview booked! September 11 here I come!

Embassy
04 Sept 2014 -- Medical
11 Sept 2014 -- Interview - APPROVED!!!!
15 Sept 2014 -- Package arrived at Loomis location!!!

I'm through security. They literally didn't ask me anything other than 'business or pleasure'. Got here super early in case I got caught up in security. Now I have three hours to kill.

Just be honest and have your back up paperwork. If you have nothing to hide, there's nothing to be afraid of, even if you get an agent who got up on the wrong side of the bed.

I offered my information, did not do that "only answer what they ask you" routine, and found each time that the agents were friendlier once they could tell I wasn't trying to hide anything.

You'll be fine.

Peace.

:dancing:

Just read your post, glad it was all fine. Enjoy your visit!!

Glad you got through alright. Funny, that is the one thing I have never been asked in customer... business or pleasure..

I am not looking forward to next week when I go through for the first time since starting our visa. I assume I will either be grilled or I will go there hours early and be stuck in the tiny area for US travel in Edmonton... ah well worse things.

Only answer what they ask is very good advice and something I always do. Simple is better :)

I agree that I get grilled more coming into Canada than into US. They seem to not trust that I don't purchase anything while I am on my trips... unlike the 100's of people in line with me that seem to buy so much!!

I once stayed it the USA for 3 months on a college internship (in 2000), was paid $75 a week for food, and they asked why I didn't bring anything back. I said, I was barely paid enough on my internship to eat, it's not like I made any money to buy anything. (In reality I bought a t-shirt and a stuffed whale, but did a couple trips so the money I did make by not eating very much was spent going to Disneyland and Sea World. Considering I had my wallet stolen while I was there, I figured the t-shirt and whale evened out the money I had lost not including having to get new ID so I could get BACK into Canada! LOL)
