Hi everyone,

I submitted my 129f before I found this website, and now i'm getting paranoid about a few things.

In the section on my 129 where it asks about circumstances of us meeting, i'm worried that I was not specific enough. I was really stupid and didn't make copies of the forms, but I'm pretty sure I said something along the lines of "I studied abroad in London the summer between my sophomore and junior years of college, I met Sam (Fiance) in a pub in July 2010. Sam and I always get confused about whether we met on July 8th or 9th, and i'm worried that in my fiance meeting statement I wrote July 8th and he wrote 9th. Is this going to be a huge problem?

Also, as proof of meeting we submitted United Airlines mileage statements where you can see we took the same trip to San Francisco and Whistler Canada together, as well as passport stamps corresponding to that trip, there are also stamps from the 5 trips I have taken to London and mileage statements and stamps from some of his 15 trips to me in Cincinnati. I added a few pictures of us, but the only one in a distinct location is in front of the Golden Gate Bridge. The mileage statements are extensive, but i've been seeing that others have added bank statements and phone bills. I didn't add any messages, e-mails, phone bills, or credit card bills. I did have my mom, who is a judge, add in the letter from her saying that she is going to be doing the marriage ceremony attest to the fact that we have seen each other on multiple occasions within the past 2 years, I added a picture of my fiance, my mother and I as well. This should be enough correct?

Basically, I've read that someone was asked the date of meeting in the interview and they said something different in than what the 129f said, and that's made me really paranoid. Also now i'm worried that I don't have copies of the 129f, fiance meeting statements, letters of intent to marry, and the biographical information one.

Thank you so much for the help ahead of time..

  • Don't worry. Small things like that won't be a problem
  • My then-fiance (now husband) and I did not send bank account statement, credit card statement, hotel's bill, etc.
  • My husband made mistake on I-129F. The information there slightly different from my G-325A. We got approved in 38 days without get RFE. You'll be fine

Thank you so much for the response! I'm usually laid back but I've become so paranoid/obsessive about this whole process. I just constantly hear horror stories of people having to wait years and I just want him here ASAP, I'm sure everyone else is in the same boat. 38 days is pretty quick though, good to know.

Thanks again for the response.

It sounds like you provided more than enough "travel" evidence.

My now-husband lived by Manchester, and I sent as evidence credit card receipts showing purchases I'd made in London as well as tickets showing that I flew into Heathrow (we decided to meet there instead of Manchester because some mutual friends of ours had a gig we wanted to attend - this was before he'd proposed and we knew we'd be going through this process). London is something like 3-4 hours away from Manchester, so it basically just showed I was in the same country as him, and we still got approved. No bank statements, no phone bills (though we did provide Skype logs), no credit card bills.

I don't think you really need distinct landmarks behind you in the photo... just so long as the photos are of you together, why would it matter where they were taken?

I made a million mistakes on forms, caught a lot of them, but I'm sure one or two slipped through. No problemo, still approved.

I do remember the paranoia and anxiety of being in that phase of things (just like you, I'd read so so so many horror stories), but once you get that K-1, it gets a LOT easier. By then this will all be old hat and the next steps aren't much different so you'll know exactly what to do. Hang in there :)

That seems enough for the 129F. The bigger proof of relationship is at the interview. If you have a real relationship I think that part is pretty hard to mess up. If you cant remember the 8th or 9th that is a small detail. You can simply be honest about it if it happened to come up in your interview. One small error of one day should not make or break your case at your interview. Bring 200 photos, and lots of chat or phone logs. Use Whatsapp and you can email yourself the chats...that works fine.

The absolute number one thing is when you are at your interview be 10000% honest always all the time. If you are forget something, be honest. etc.

I can assure you that if you were asked the date you met at a London interview and you answered "I don't remember. It was Summer 2010" they wouldn't care. They are not trying to catch you out on details. And the post above says that the bigger proof of relationship is at the interview. Not at a London interview. They want nothing about your relationship brought to the interview. The biggest hurdle at the interview would be if there are crimes, cautions, or drug use by the beneficiary.

Hi, my fiancé and I were approved since April and now we're going to be interviewed next month. We are all scared about that day. I live in the US and he is in Africa, but we don't have any of the picture that we are together. And we mentioned that in the statement when we sent our I 129F. But I went to visit him last winter, so I gave those tickets as the only proof we have. And now I see like everyone is sending their pictures or being asked with the officer at the day of interview. I now planned to leave for Africa so we can all be together at that day. Do you think that will be a problem?

I had my interview at the London embassy last Friday. They didn't ask for any relationship evidence. They did ask when we first met but I didn't have to give a specific date, just an approximate month and year. We only included a few photos in the original petition, mostly of us and one with his family. I don't remember any distinguishing landmarks in any of the photos. For peace of mind, I brought some credit card receipts with me to the interview, but they weren't asked for, nor were they needed. And we used the VJ template for our letters of intent, which didn't include details regarding how we met or when, only that we were free to marry and intend to do so within 90 days of my arrival. And on the I-129F, we only put a short sentence about meeting on an online dating site, without any specifics about dates and times. That said, at the interview, I was asked about the progression of the relationship, but this is a standard question.

London is one of the easier embassies to go through because they don't ask for relationship evidence, so there's no requirement to frontload your petition as you would if you were going through one of the other embassies. Luckily, as your state is Ohio, you will be processed by the California Service Centre - recent petitions going through this centre seem to average about 1-2 months from receipt to approval, compared to the Texas Service Centre where petitions are taking 5-7 months. That said, these things are subject to fluctuation and CSC could hit a bad spot with petition approvals slowing down whereas TSC petition approvals could speed up. You need to be prepared for both scenarios: a speedy process as well as one that's drawn out.

While you are waiting, have a read of the excellent London K-1 visa guide (link in my signature), which has been written (in-part) by Nich-Nick, who has been advising K-1 visa beneficiaries and petitioners on here for years, so she knows what she is talking about!

Also now i'm worried that I don't have copies of the 129f, fiance meeting statements, letters of intent to marry, and the biographical information one.

Not trying to be discouraging but you might get RFE. From what I have read, Intent to marry letters are pretty importnant:( as well as BIO. On a positive side tho, RFEs take only a week or two extra these days for Cali;)

If you slip through, consider yourself lucky because if the Cali's BOOM that is happening now:)

about the meeting date like it was mentioned above, be honest about it and you will be fine. Other than that, you are fine. I would have Bio and Intent to marry letters ready just in case you get an RFE to respond right away.

and I was wondering if you could request a copy of the file you sent to USCIS because once again, from what i have read, that's what oyu need to send to your fiance once you get approved at USCIS.

Good luck!

As was said several times already.... making a mistake usually doesn't just "kill the plan"... it will just delay it, depending on the mistake.

Not remembering the exact date, pfff, I don't think they'll worry about it. As long as you include passport stamps, boarding passes, pictures and, for example, letters from people you (together) met during the trip, you should be fine to prove the "having met" requirement.

The one possible cause for RFE I see is the lack of the signed-and-dated Letters of Intent to Marry (those are required, and, so, if not present, will prompt an RFE for them... GET THEM and be ready to send them out to them (USPS overnight) as soon as you get their request!

Not having made copies of everything you sent them is a bummer, but mostly for your own peace of mind: they dont care. As long as you sent in the other forms (I-129F, G-1145A, two G-325A's) you should be fine, just with an RFE for the LoI's.

So, make sure you have those ready soon! Also, they should be *originals*, so, the ones with the "actual" signature, not a copy. So, your beneficiaty fiancé abroad should write up theirs, and mail it to you so that when you do get the RFE, you'll be able to send em off right away, minimizing the delay in processing...

Sorry I wasn't very clear, I sent the intent to marry, meeting statements, as well as a letter from the judge (mom) who is going to do the ceremony.. I just didn't make copies for myself.

I'm so grateful for everyone's responses, this is incredible and makes me feel so much better, again I really appreciate it!

I'll have my fiance check out the link posted about the London embassy procedure, again, so helpful.

Great to hear about the California processing times, fingers crossed! Got the e-mail about the change of alien registration number today.

Another few questions, what has everyone done about leases and not knowing when they will be able to leave? My fiance's lease is up in London in September and obviously he will not be able to come to the states by then, but he doesn't want to sign another year lease or even 6 months in case things get done quicker than that.. so frustrating.

Also, i'm starting law school in August, and i'm going to have to get someone else to be the financial sponsor. Because I will have zero income, should I still file a joint sponsor thing, or just have the other sponsor do it all on her own, (she makes more than they require.)

Also does anyone else find it funny how they ask when you are getting married or ask for venue receipts? Do people really put down payments on places and just cross their fingers?

Make a VJ timeline. It helps us know where you are in the process and give better answers.

Another few questions, what has everyone done about leases and not knowing when they will be able to leave? My fiance's lease is up in London in September and obviously he will not be able to come to the states by then, but he doesn't want to sign another year lease or even 6 months in case things get done quicker than that.. so frustrating.

Move in with a friend. Stay, work and don't come the week you get the visa.

Also, i'm starting law school in August, and i'm going to have to get someone else to be the financial sponsor. Because I will have zero income, should I still file a joint sponsor thing, or just have the other sponsor do it all on her own, (she makes more than they require.)

London will accept just the friend's I-134 and proof of income. But when your husband files for adjustment of status after marriage, there is another Affidavit of Support. You and the friend will each do separate I-864s, even if you make $0. Different form with stricter rules.

(response to question removed as OP requested the question to be removed and answer no longer made sense - VJ Moderation)

Also does anyone else find it funny how they ask when you are getting married or ask for venue receipts? Do people really put down payments on places and just cross their fingers?

You will not have to produce any receipts. London asks just for scheduling purposes and would give an earlier interview to somebody marrying soon over another who didn't intend to marry for 6-8 months. And yes, some people book expensive weddings and the whole UK family books plane tickets and then have a crisis and much sobbing. Not a good plan.
