Finally someone grows a set. About time

House Speaker John Boehner announced Wednesday he plans to file suit against President Obama over his alleged abuse of executive power.

"This is not about impeachment -- it's about him faithfully executing the laws of this country," Boehner said.

The speaker alleged that the president not only has ignored the law but "brags about it," decrying what he described as "arrogance and incompetence."

Boehner had been weighing such a lawsuit in recent days, over concerns that Obama exceeded his constitutional authority with executive actions. Republicans have voiced frustration with Obama's second-term "pen and phone" strategy of pursuing policy changes without Congress -- particularly environmental rules via the Environmental Protection Agency. Republicans also complained about numerous unilateral changes to the implementation of ObamaCare.

The lawsuit has not yet been filed. But asked Wednesday whether he intended to proceed, Boehner said: "I am."

The decision to sue still would have to be formally approved by a group of House leaders. Presuming that step is cleared, the suit is expected to be filed in a few weeks.

The plaintiff would be the House of Representatives.

Ahead of Boehner's announcement, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi ridiculed the prospect of a suit against the president.

"I make of it as subterfuge," she said. "They're doing nothing here. So they have to give some aura of activity."

Pelosi said the Republicans caucus needs an "adult in that room."

Really ?

If only Boehner had resolve to follow this through. I have my doubts.

On that I agree

I think the American people should file suit against Congress (both houses) for subverting the electoral process.

They have conspired to make House and Senate seats non competitive (safe for the incumbents) by gerrymandering the districts.

It is a fact that politicians have more to fear from primary challenges than from the voters in their districts

Yeah, I guess I had a brain freeze, probably thinking of the state legislatures, they're equally non-competitive

I had a close family member that in the GA state Leg for many years. Was one of the top offices in that body. I can tell you that many times they not only drew districts to favor a party, but often had a certain person in mind when they drew it as a political favor. They would taylor a district to suit one person.

Districts should be geographically based and nothing else. we at one time had a district that ran from north GA to the sea and had almost every majority black neighborhood in it. Of course it was another perfect example of democrats screwing the blacks, because now instead of them being a major voice in almost all districts, they elected one token member and the rest of the districts went conservative Republican. It does not take a genius to figure out it was like putting Indians on a reservation.

Smart move right ...

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things.
