Hi all!

I recently filed for AOS and received the biometrics appointment letter today. My scheduled appointment is on July 16th. I live in Fort Wayne, IN, and my ASC is Indianapolis, so it is like a two hours drive from home. My husband can drive me there, but he is only at home four days every month, because he works as a truck driver right now. He is coming home in a couple of days, and we would like to do a walk-in during his time off. (Probably on June 27th).

I read some responses about this office being OK with walk-ins, but they were from some years ago. Anyone knows more about it?

Thank you so much for your responses.

There is a thread on here somewhere about walk in all over the country, have a look for it and see if anyone has tried.

Hi there!

I am not sure how it works a the Indianapolis ASC, but I will tell you about my experience at the Seattle ASC, where they strictly stated walk-ins are not welcome (I found this to be untrue). You see, I accidentally MISSED my biometrics appointment and I had booked an Infopass appointment but that date was over 2 weeks past my original scheduled Biometrics appointment. So, the day I realized I missed my appointment, I drove to the ASC, explained my situation, and they fit me in. Now, your situation isn't necessarily considered critical, but given that your husband is the only (???) person that can drive you, you might try walking in on whatever day is convenient to you.

In your case, if the people you speak to at the ASC ask, I would explain what you did here: that your husband is the only person available to drive you, and due to his job he is only home a few days per month... and as such, you would miss your appointment because he wouldn't be home at that time to drive you.

Good luck!

Hi again!

Sorry I replied so late I haven't had access to my computer since my husband was here and we were doing a ton of things.

Anyway.... Walk-in successful at Indianapolis ASC.

We drove down last Wednesday (July 2nd) and I came in with my appointment letter (July 16th). It was 3 p.m. and the office was empty, the guards made me fill a form with my information and some minutes later, a lady came out and took me to a separate room.

They didn't ask me why I was coming early, but they did say: Her appointment is future or something like that. Only problem I had is that I forgot to bring my Marriage certificate, so they couldn't process my fingerprints with my married name. They did it with my maiden name instead, but also made a note with my married name. The ladies were very nice and courteous, they explained to me that my EAD might come with my maiden name instead of my married name but since I filed all my paperwork with the married name I am hoping it will come all right.

Thanks for your responses, I will look into that other post to add this information as well.

Walk-in successful at Indianapolis ASC.

As a service, to future readers, I can confirm the validity of your report.

A friend went to Indianapolis ASC at the appointed time (which was on Wednesday, when only ASC is open, and the USCIS office proper - which shares the floor with them - is closed), and was pleasantly surprised by how little time the process took. Apparently the ASC there is not particularly busy, and most of the time is friendly to walk-in customers, just as per your report. Unlike the USCIS office proper (which is closed on Wed), the ACS is open Monday thru Firiday.

While there is some parking near Landmark Center itself (where USCIS/ASC is located), an alternative place to park in the area is the underground garage under the new Indianapolis Public Library (which is worth visiting as a destination in its own right), located just a couple of blocks to the south. The parking there costs about $1 an hour.

I received my biometrics appointment notice (scheduled 06/30/16) and successfully attempted a walk in yesterday (06/23/16). No questions were asked and it took 5 minutes as the office was empty. As a precaution I scheduled a info's appointment too but that might not be necessary. The staff were helpful and friendly.
