Does anyone have an idea of the cost of the certificated copy of the marriage certificate at Ikoyi registry in Lagos, Nigeria?

About N5K to N10K it should run you. If you have a copy of the original may go faster.

please i don't understand this certified copy thing is it a different copy from the one that was given to you on your wedding day ( i mean if you had a court wedding).

What was handed to you after wedding is the original. A certified copy is issued by whoever issues it with their stamp and seal. It's a certified copy of the original you have the original. One or the other is required at NVC.

When I came to the US I filed my original marriage certificate at the Clerk of Court to put it on file as a public record (silly me :cry:) . The certified copy from the Clerk of Court in the US will not suffice for the NVC even though it is clearly stated it is a true copy of the original document and has a seal on it. I have to send my husband to the registry to obtain a certified copy in Nigeria or file a motion to withdraw a document from the Clerk of Court in United States. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE.

Thanks! You sound familiar with the process. Are you aware of the processing time to obtain the document which was manually filed in Nigeria.

I know it too well. It can take same day to a week. You know Nigeria.

yeah my husband had to go back three times because of some dubious excuses they were giving him....it all was about wanting more money. when they realized he was giving them any more they finally gave it to him but with one digit wrong on my address....hope it doesn't cause problems.

03/09/2013: Married

09/10/2013: Sent I-130

09/12/2013: Case Received.

03/04/2014: Petition transferred to Nebraska Service Center.

03/25/2014: I-130 Petition approved

03/28/2014: Petition sent to NVC

04/09/2014: NVC received case

05/08/2014: NVC assigned case number

05/16/2014: Paid AOS fee

10/02/2014: Case Closed

10/10/2014: Interview Date Scheduled

11/17/2014: Interview - APPROVED!!

Oh no problems just price goes up when you need a document. :rolleyes: The price for a certified true copy of your marriage certificate from Ikoyi is 15k and 5k extra if you want it that same day. Please bring a copy of your marriage cetificate to speed up the process because before the certified copy is made one must go to the courts to have a statement written (affidavit). Then travel back to the registry to give the letter to the person to type your document and stamp it with a seal. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE KEEP YOUR ORIGINAL CERTIFICATE TO PROCESS YOUR CASES OR PAY YOUR WAY THROUGH! :blush:
